edited March 2014 in Breast Cancer #1
I have been diagnosed with Breast Cancer metastisized to my bone Stage 4 in Aug. 2009. My first diagnosis was in 2003 and had a double mastectomy, chem, rads, etc. I just went thru radiation and taxotere, herceptin and zometa. I still will continue with the herceptin and zometa for now. The oncologist stopped my taxotere a couple of weeks ago. Not sure why other than low WBC. I trust my oncologist very much but am confused right now. My oncologist ordered an MRI which I had on Saturday due to my slight pain in my upper left femur and pelvis area (this is the area that my BC had metastiszed to in August 2009). The results of the MRI were that a new lesion was found (2.2 cm) on my right hip. I am devastated that the cancer has spread again to a new area of my bones. Any input out there of hope would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Peggy

    Ever since B/C
I find myself at a loss for words. Sometimes words just aren't enough.
And some are more powerful than we can fathom. For me it is the word 'hope'.

Hi Peggy, I am also stage
Hi Peggy, I am also stage IV, diagnosed on March 17, 2009. in December my tumor markers jumped up to 42.7 (low this summer was 17, high when diagnosed 77). Last week I had a pet scan and a bone scan to explain the jump. I relate to your fears. Maybe they can shoot your hip with radiation? My mets are widespread in my bones. Was in my liver, totally clear now and my breast tumor is also gone! But sadly its still in my bones. Please keep us posted!!

Sorry for your situation. Having a good oncologist is a critical factor in your treatment and you are in good care, that will help you. Low WBC is a reason why you cannot continue Taxotere. We have several members of this board who were diagnosed with stage IV and now in remission. I am sure they will get in touch with you. Please stay connected and come here for support.

    I know how you feel
    Hi Peggy,

I had bc in 2003, surgery, chemo etc. I had recurrance in June 2009, surgery, chemo. I just had PET scan in January 2010 and it showed two new bone mets so I know how you feel. I thought I had beat it again but it just keeps coming. It's frustrating when you do everything you are suppose to and it doesn't work, but don't lose hope. I have good days and bad as well. If you need to talk please feel free to email me.
