    It is soooo cold that
I sit at my work at home desk wearing SOCKS and a sweater, but the window is open and
my cats are taking a sun bath and frolicking right outside.

I love this time of year in AZ, but let me tell you I paid dearly for this, frying in the summer.

    I Live
I live in Kansas City, Missouri. It is unusually cold here. Right now it is 5 degrees but feels like -7 degrees. I slipped in the snow and ice and sprained my ankle. I thought, like I need that on top of chemo and rads. But the sprain took my mind off of my burnt chi-chi. :)

    Holland (well, right now..lol...)
    Minus 4 celsius (24F)....brrrrrr.....

BUT it's even colder in North Holland, and that means there is talk of the "11 cities race" an ice skating race on canals and rivers between 11 cities in Freisland...

    Hugs, Kathi

    Kathi,
    That would be so

    Kathi,
That would be so exciting to watch. So Hans Brinker. What fun. This must be something that doesn't happen every year. Everything must have to be cold throughout to freeze so many canals and rivers. Tell us if it happens.

    Here in Maine
I live in Central Maine and right now 3AM, it's 18. Today's temps are supposed to be around 19and windy. We've been pretty lucky with snowfall so we aren't snowed under at all. People think we're sub arctic here but the other day my Dad, in Sarasota, FL told me that his morning temps were colder than ours! That doesn't happen very often but when it does you can bet I'm on it to tease them!

Elfstedentocht....It is very exciting....the last time was 1997
    For more info (rofl!) http://www.thehollandring.com/11stedentocht.shtml

It has to really freeze...even under the bridges, and then, the entire country turns out to watch...lol...bigger spectator turnout than the 'tour de France' in a way because it's so rare a race to run. But, also, it's size is limited to members of the organization who runs it...130,000 and it has capped it's membership.

So, if it does happen, it will be major televised...may even reach you there in the States...Man! would I love to go and watch...but, naturally, it's sooooooooo cold...lol!

I will keep you all posted!

    Hugs, Kathi

    Syracuse, NY

Syracuse, NY and it's now 8 degrees. Last night I stopped at the drug store for about 15 minutes and enough snow accumulated in that time that I had to brush my car off again. We have had about 3 feet of snow in January.
