Hi, everyone, I haven't posted a discussion topic in a while, but I have tried to keep checking in on this site and offering my Prayers. My husband had colon cancer stage 3C, full colonectomy last april. finished chemo in Nove. CT Scan on December 28, Dec. 30 dr.'s office called and said no signs of metasizing. We celebrated. Today surgeon called because he has his first colonoscopy next week and said they also want to check out his throat because the esophogas looks swollen. I didn't want to tell him, because I don't want him denying any tests. I did tell him, because I think he should know before Wed. comes around and the doc tells him. Can anyone shed any light as to why his esophogas would be swollen? I do pray for everyone on this site, you are all so brave and fight so hard. Thank you for any info or just a hello. Margaret

    Hmmm
Margaret, they did an endoscopy on me the same time as my original colonoscopy. I was totally knocked out and other than a dry mouth, didn't even know it had been done.

So, I looked up swollen esophagus and found this:

5 FU bugs our throat, etc. and causes gastric distress. Sounds like it might not be anything serious at all. Hope so!

Thank you for the reply I had my meltdown yesterday, today I woke up more level headed, not everything will mean the cancer is back elsewhere. I think what really scared me was my dad had esophogeal cancer and they used his colon in place of his esophogas, my husband doesn't have a colon if he were to have cancer and had to have major surgery. My family and cancer don't usually equal survival and I guess that's why my immediate reaction is it must be back. I really do appreciate all the positives I read on this site and again I Thank you for your time in replying. God Bless. Margaret
