I did not get chemo today because my CA125 went from 58 to 156 this month and I will be starting Doxil
next week. They have to order it by appointment to save on cost so my treatment will be Wed. That way I can get in two doses before we leave for our cruise in February. Get it every 3 weeks.

The jump in the CA125 plus the increasing side pain was not a surprise. I felt it growing by the symptoms.

Just hope the Doxil works. I have had two doses of Doxil one year apart. The last was with Carbo...the combination really made me sick. Just didn't want to do anything for over a week.

Well, at least I get to go to the New Year's Party tonight with close friends from our Sunday School Class and we will have fun fussing over our board games.
Happy New Year, Ladies and may 2010 be putting us back in NED. (((HUGS))) Saundra

Sorry to hear about the jump in the CA-125. I hope the doxil works too. Have fun at your party, and yes let's hope for NED all around. Thanks for all your support this year. It has been one of the things that has helped me through this process.

    Saundra,
i'm sorry to hear about your jump in CA. I wish you the best with the doxil and bringing your CA down this year.

I had to postpone cycle #5 of doxil, until my blisters heal up. After cycle #3 they began to appear and got steadily worse after cycle #4. Can't emphasize the icing enough and staying off your feet the first 5 days or so. (I was careless the last cycle, getting ready for Christmas, a quick trip to the US etc) You know I'm going to be better next time! My CA is at 136 as of 12-03, (diving the first two cycles and stayed the same after #3) had another draw on the 24th, which will tell me results for a full 4 cycles. Everything shuts down here from the 29th til the 4th LOL so just have to wait:)

May 2010 bring some NED (or low numbers!) so you can have a break!!!

    Warm hugs and love,
    kathleen:)

    Good luck
    Saundra,
Good luck to you with the Doxil and I am sorry to hear about your numbers rising. You are such an inspiration to me and so supportive to everyone who writes on the board.
What kind of side pain did you experience? I'm just curious. I will be starting Doxil Jn.4th and I'm pretty nervous. Are you worried about going on vacation?

    Hi Kayandok,
I will be starting Doxil for the first time Jan.4th. Please tell me what you do to minimize the side effects? How do the blisters form? Do you have any hand issues? All I was told that it is well tolerated but does have hand/feet problems. I was also told not to wear restrictive clothing. I will be recv'ng it every 3 weeks. What is your frequency?

    I agree Bummer
Dear Saundra, This is a bummer but I still praise the Lord for the results he has given you on this journey and continue to say many thank you's that there are a list of drugs still for you to try. Sometimes it takes a few that don't work to get to the one the one that does. Beleive me been there done that. The doxil was one of the drugs that even gave me a 3 month chemo break ~ praying it does the same if not even more for you.

Where you going on the cruise? You maybe already shared but my chemo brain doesn't remember. Anyway sending you lots of hugs ♥ prayers Bonnie

PS Thanks for the notes on caringbridge, its always wonderful to read the guestbook signings there. I hope you don't mind but I do print them and put them in a book I am saving for my kids one day. :-)

    Side pain
My side pain (sygmoid colon, lower left pain is where I hurt. I have diverticulitis flare ups in that area (old woman's disease) and a tumor in the same spot. I never know what is causing the pain. Happened twice since May. Yes, I am getting nervous about the 50th Anniv. cruise. Will take two Doxil treatments before I leave. My schedule is every three weeks. I am praying that all goes well. Saundra

    Saundra,

That is where my cancer came back Sygmoid junction and I kinda felt the pain there. My CA-125 went up to 13, 99, 113 before I got started on gemzar/cisplatin. So far after 9 treatments (5 left) I am down to 12.2.

We did talk about a 35th anniversary (March 1st) cruise in February, but I am so off schedule with my treatments that we are just going to wait and go to the beach with our children and grandchildren in June instead!

We will all agree in prayer with you that all goes well and you can enjoy that cruise!!

    Libby
