I saw my Onc today and he doesn't like that I am still having Big "D" even while I am taking Immodium and Lomatol. I told him if I have to have Big "D" for 2 weeks after Chemo that I would just deal with it and do the best that I can to make sure I keep enough fluids in me so that I don't get dehydrated. He said that he doesn't know what else to do for me. I tried to tell him that it was okay to have 2 bad weeks and one good one in between Chemo sessions. I did not ask him to stop Chemo. He told me to start taking the Lomatol right after Chemo even though I usually don't get Big "D" until a few days later. He did not schedule a Chemo session for Jan. I think he is going to wait and see how I handle tomorrow's Chemo session. Chemo is not pleasant for me but if I gotta have it, I am willing to do what it takes to get through it. Jan would be my fourth session and I have read here that others have stopped with just four. I would feel better if I could just make it through number four.

Heck Chemo isn't pleasant for any of us that's why we come here for support from people we trust and who are coping with the same stuff that we are.

So sorry you're having such a rough time. I go for my first tomorrow and am of course hoping it will go OK.

You are showing the strength that is within you by choosing to move forward despite the discomfort and doing whatever it takes to win this battle. You are an inspiration to me, and I hope I am able to face what's to come with a measure of the courage you have shown.

    Best of luck tomorrow!

    sorry for the difficulties
I checked what i was taking. My onco prescribed Zofran and Adivan. They both were for the 72 hours after chemo.I had no issues.
(drug names are ondansetron 8mg and lorazepam1mg)
I was taking the lorazepam as needed for anxiety, but I decided to stop.
    Good luck with the 4th!
    Peace

    Thoughts and Prayers
    Donna -

My thoughts and prayers are with you on round #3. I go in on Friday for my #3 - so I'm keeping my fingers crossed for both of us. I tend to have the opposite problem - all the medications stop me up for 4-5 days! Then I get the big D for a few days. I hope this round goes a little easier on you! I'll be sending positive vibes your way!

    Take care!

Thanks for all the encouragement and prayers
Thanks for all the encouragement and prayers.

I made it trough my Chemo today. I am really tired. Took the Lomotal at 0400pm as my Onc requested. I will be taking it around the clock at 0400 and 1000 am and pm. Just praying I am okay by Christmas. My thirteen year old grandson volunteered to help me get ready. Will try to bake cookies and fix chocolate and peanut butter fudge and sugar free mini cheesecakes on the 23 and then fix the big dinner on the 24th. We celebrate on the 24th and that way it gives my husband's kids a chance to have dinner with their mother on Christmas day. By the way my 13 year old grandson is already about 5' 10". Not a little boy. He is taller than me and still growing. Wears a size 13 mens shoe.

First year I have ever let anybody help me
First year I have ever let anybody help me. I usually do it all by myself. I am usually not quite right until my third week after Chemo but Christmas falls at the tail end of my second week, I am hoping my Chemo Brain and big "D" are gone by then and that my taster is working somewhat. Be a real bummer to fix all this good food and not be able to taste any of it. I ordered platters for the ham and crab/ lobster claws. Mostly just have to fix the vege sides. I am doing baked potatoes and scalloped potatoes instead of mashed and potatoe salad. I will have to steam the snow crab but bought the shrimp already cooked cleaned and deveined, just have to thaw it out and chill it. This year I will buy most of the deesrts ready made except for the Sugar Free Mini Cheesecakes. Those I will have to fix 20 min prep time. I have always been a pusher. I mean I push myself to get the things done that are important to me. I think I can handle it with my grandsons help. He is a good kid and I am really kinda glad he volunteered, will give me a little more time to rest. I know he will like baking cookies. Dinner is for 12.

    Donna,
    I hope that

    Donna,

I hope that everything goes beautifully and that you have no Big D, get your tasters back and the food is done to perfection. But even if all does not go as planned you will be with your family and/or friends and that's the most important thing of all. Wrapped in the love of your family. By the way, dinner sounds delicious.
