Tomarrow I am having my endescopy done after the last 3 months of going to the doc complaning of symptoms. I have had reflux for years last year he did a barium swallow and found a hiatal hernia but that was it. Went back 3 months ago constant reflux, stomah ache.He did a ultra sound and a h pylori and some othr bloodwork which came back neg. He told me not to worry but I did so I took a home test for occult blood which has come out pos.I am a 45 (wf)as I have been looking up statistics about this terrable disease but after reading posts it seems alot of younger people are gettig this. Im sorry to ramble about myself,I guess if feels better to get it out. I'm so scared.Do you think he will be able to tell me anything imediatly? I will say a prayer for all on this board.

The endoscopy and the biopsy if one is done is what will tell you the truth. I can't blame you nor change the anxiety or fear that you're going through. Only thing I can offer is that are you not alone. Statistics are not favorable generally speaking but there are several reasons that can factor in to that. One is usually symptoms show up after the disease has progressed pretty far. Hopefully due to your diligence of checking it out early the first prognosis of a hiatal hernia is the true diagnosis. Unpleasant as that is, it would still be better then cancer.

Hopefully to give you better news I had troubles with indigestion for about 19 yrs. I believe that the constant problems with that is what eventually led to my cancer. But no one really knows for sure.

People who tend to also get this cancer traditionally are older, being 50 to 60+. If it is cancer hopefully if you're in good health otherwise you should be able to withstand the treatments they go forward with for you.

I hope to hear that your endoscopy shows you to be clean of Cancer and that we find you well when you get back to us.

    Hi,
    Kathy it is really good

    Hi,

Kathy it is really good to hear that the report id clean, as my experience about endoscopy is very bad, as my aunt is having some problem in uterus and she had been suggested for endoscopy(Hysteroscopy),everyone was telling her that to consult other doctors also and she never did this and at the end of the day she had gone for this and I dont know what happened she got trouble in her uterus and after couple of months she died.

As, why I am letting you know all this is it is a kind ofo small surgery and the biopsies are taken and foriegn objects get retrieved. So, it is important to ocnsult about this with a doctor on whom you find good trust and also who has been reffered only than take a step forward towards this.

    Thanks!!
