Jean,

How have you been? I have not seen a post from you in awhile. Would actually like to know your email address or phone number.

    Dear Libby: I was shocked
Dear Libby: I was shocked to see your post to me this morning. I have not been on the site much as I have not been feeling well and honestly sometimes there is more here than I want to know. I am scheduled for my last (6th) treatment this Thurs. and the second part of it next week. I think the Cisplatin has destroyed my digestive system. I always hav a little nausea. I'm praying that after this next treatment I will get relief. How are you doing? As I recall we were getting the same treatments. Thanks for getting in touch and hope to hear from you soon.

    I understand
    Jean,

Glad to hear from you. And very glad you are almost done. I am half way done! Had second part moved back one week three times now. But believe we have the shots going for everything, so hopefully no more set backs.

Yes, cisplatin does seem to be hard on the body. Nausea everytime, stomach problems, etc. And the shots have not been easy either. Not doing near as much as first time on chemo. Trying to rest between treatments so I can just get them done!!

Take care and keep us updated.

    Hi Libbby: Finished my last
Hi Libbby: Finished my last treatment on Thurs. of last week, but not without a couple glitches. Had a little reaction to the Magnesium I had to take. I agree the shots have side effects also. I am scheduled for my CT scan on Mon. the 30th. I pray to God that all of the pain and discomfort was worth it. Please keep in touch and good luck to you,

    Jean,

Good to hear from you again. I have 3 more to go (6 when you break it down). I got sick yesterday for the first time. That's what I get for bragging all the time about never vomiting!! When on until 10:00 last night! Nothing would stay down. Does tear up your stomach.

Praying you have NED! Keep us posted.

Dear Libby: Completed my chemo and had a CT scan last Monday. Saw my doctor on Thurs.
He was very pleased with my results. Had no new disease. 4 spots left that didn't quite go away. He wants to do 2 more rounds of chemo. This time it will be Gemzar and Carboplatin. I'm a little disappointed in the news, but at least it won't be as harsh as the cysplatin has been. I am set up for Dec. 28 and Jan 18.
How are you doing? Are your treatments finished yet?
    Hugs and prayers,
    Jean

    NO
    Jean,

Hi! My treatments have been off schedule almost since the beginning! Out of 8 - 6 have been 1 week later. And now for 5a I am 2 weeks off. If it isn't the platelets, it is the white counts. I do take shots too, but sometimes that does not bring them up either.

Chemo has been working, but just is very hard on my bone marrow. I have a headcold now (yukky), I don't like to whine, but that is where I am now. Should have been having last chemo by end of January, looks like if I am to finish the last 6, I may be into March. Don't know how effective being that off will be, but God is in charge of my schedule. He knows what my body can handle, what it needs and when it needs it.

Not much else I can do about that!! Just pray and trust Him.

Glad to hear you are off cisplatin. Carbo does not seem so harsh. We will pray gemzar/carbo takes care of those last spots. Have a very Merry Christmas and keep me posted.

    Love,
    Libby

    update
Dear Libby: Happy to hear from you again. Sorry to hear you have gotten behind on your treatments. You kind of get a "goal" in mind and when things don't go according to schedule it is frustrating. Talked to my doctor's office the other day about carboplatin.
Last time I had it, I had a reaction and then had to have the last 3 treatments in the hospital and stay overnight. Was not looking forward to that again. But this time they tell me I can do it as an outpatient. I will have my bloodwork and Gemzar on the first day, then Carboplatin on the second day from 8AM til 5 or 6PM. I will have 2 rounds of this and then we will repeat the scan. I have returned to my preschool job and love being there with the children. I can't afford to lose this job as my insurance comes from them.

    Wee shall see what happens.
Have a wonderful Christmas and God bless you.
    Love, Jean
