edited March 2014 in Colorectal Cancer #1
Hi Friends,
Yesterday my beautiful wife Sarah had her first scan since starting the Folfox regimen. The results were not what we had hoped for. There are more tumors in her liver and some have grown. There are more tumors in her lungs and some have grown. Some of the cancer in her nodes is gone but new cancer has appeared.
Our team wants to switch to Folfiri starting next week. I know it's pretty common for folks with colorectal cancer to go through both of these treatments. Recently she had really starting adjusting well to the Folfox side effects and now it starts all over again.
I just wanted to share this with you and ask for your continued support.
Thanks!
Dan

    Dan,

I'm so sorry that y'all had disappointing news. I hope the new treatments will show better results. Your wife will be in my prayers.

I will keep you and Sarah in my thoughts and prayers. I know people who have had progression on Folfox but do fantastically on Folfiri. So keep up your spirits and battle on.

    HI Dan!
I am at Stage 4 and on the Folfiri chemo, I have mets in my liver, and by the 2nd or 3rd scan, the tumors in my liver have shrunken. I don't know what's next for me, as I'll be doing my 12th treatment this Wednesday, I don't think I'm still a good surgery candidate either, so hopefully the Folfiri will work with her, have them add Avastin to it as well, it blocks the blood supply to the tumors. I will pray for you both to get through this battle, this disease is really hard on everyone, and wish something more was done for it.

    Hugsss!

My prayers are with your wife, you and your entire family. It's hard, but different chemo regimines produce different results. I'm hopeful that the Folfiri will do an amazing job for your wife. I'm actually on that now, myself. I had really good progress with Folfox, but had to stop the Oxi due to an allergic reaction. I had progression on the Avastin/Xeloda, and have one more Folfiri treatment before scans. I'm prayerful for some good results for myself and your wife!

    New Program - New Possibilities
So sorry to hear about the poor results with FOLFOX. I hope the new regime does the trick. I did both, 5 years ago. Thinking of you at this very difficult time.

    Thank You
    Hi Friends,
Thanks for all your responses, thoughts, and support. After our not so good news on Thursday, we are regrouping and moving forward as Sarah prepares for the start of Folfiri on Tuesday. If others can respond to this treatment (and there are a bunch of survivor stories around), so can she!
    Peace,
    Dan
