Doctor said I will have the Taxotere and carboplatin every 3 weeks and the Herceptin every week for 1 year. I am a little cofused reading on here it seems others have herceptin every 3 weeks maybe I didn't hear him right. Has any one else taken the same treatments?

Welcome! So sorry to hear this is your second time with cancer!
I will be doing the same combo only twice, 3 weeks apart. Surgery,(Lumpectomy)then Herceptin for another 48 weeks once a week. w/radiation. The intention is to shrink the tumor before surgery. There are alot of women here doing Herceptin as well and am sure they will be here soon to share their experiences. Usually Herceptin, when given with Chemo is every 3 weeks.
    Prayers & Hugz,
    Cat

    Hi babyof15 I'm on this
Hi babyof15 I'm on this too. 6 rounds of Taxotere/carboplatin and herceptin (every 3 weeks) then herceptin for a year every 3 weeks. So far it hasn't been to bad. With herceptin I have to get my heart checked every 3 months by an echo cardiogram. Herceptin is not a chemo drug so your hair will start to grow back and won't have the side effects of chemo. I do get headaches from it I think. It could be the other drugs but I am still doing rounds... on #3 this week.

    My herceptin was every week
My herceptin was every week for the first 3 months, and then every 3 weeks for the next 9 months for a total of 1 year. Maybe check with your oncologist.

    i have the same meds
I go every weds for herceptin and every 3 weeks for the carbo/taxotere. The weeks of herceptin only aren't too bad, I get very tired when I get all 3 drugs though. I had a reaction the 2nd time I got taxotere, so I get heavily medicated with steroids and benadryl before I get it now, which might be part of the tiredness!monica

    everyone is different
yes it is confusing but don't be scared - some people receive Herceptin weekly and some ever 3 weeks. Your oncologist knows best and herceptin isn't as bad as chemo as far as feeling side effects. This is a miracle drug for those of us who test Her2+ - our sisters years before us didn't have this available to them - Take it in good spirit and in good health!! It can save your life - best wish and lots of luck - you'll be in my prayers and please try not to be scared - you're getting excellent treatment and I know many sisters in pink who have been 10, 20 and 30 year survivors even before the availability of treatments like Herceptin. But when you do feel scared, come here and talk to us.

    Hugs to you.

I'm on this cocktail too. Mine are every three weeks. Will receive six treatments since things went well on the first session. Did they mention whether you would be taking any drugs after treatment?
