As some of you may remember (or not) lol, I was concerned about the follow up care that I was not getting. Well, I had an appointment with my PCP this morning, and after a very long talk with her, I feel much better. And I have more info about my diagnosis. Turns out I had a borderline malignant phyllodes tumor that was 7 cm. 20 lymph nodes were tested and all were clear. I was told that 3 pathologists looked at both pathlogy reports and came to the same conclusion. It was still kind of "ify". But, based on the fact that there was no lymph node involvement, I did not have to have chemo or radiation. Ya know, if my general surgeon had just explained this to me at the time, then I would not have doubts now. But, because I do, she scheduled me for a chest ct scan, as well as a brain mri. I had a brain tumor in 2000, that I underwent a craniotomy for to remove it. So, its time to have that checked out again. Both of those are scheduled for Tuesday. She also suggested that I start on medication for stress, anxiety and depression. But, I don't like taking any kind of meds like that, so I told her I didn't want to go that route at this point. She gave me some points on some relaxation techs that may help. I have also gained quite a bit of weight over the last couple of months. I told her I eat when stressed. Oh, well.....will work on it.

    Thinking of you
I'll be thinking of you on Tuesday. I'm glad to hear you don't have any lymph node involvment- that's one less thing to worry about. :-)

    Have a good (relaxing) weekend.

I'm glad you got some answers
Borderline malignant is better than definitely malignant, so that's good. I say try the relaxation techniques and take care of your emotional and physical health. A lot of us gain weight when stressed! Exercise will help with that and also get those endorphins going, so you feel better and stronger. You are being very proactive with your health and that's great. Now, try to enjoy your weekend. My best to you on Tuesday. We'll be looking for your post.

Thank you for your support. I feel like I can finally take a deep breath again. I don't feel like it is doomsday. Everyone has been so supportive, and you guys give really good advice. While I hate that we met on this site because of bc, I am glad that I was told about it. I have met some really terrific women here. And it helps to know that you are not alone in your fight.

You both have a great weekend. Its supposed to be pretty here (in NC), and cool, I think.

    Take care,
    Cheyenne

    Glad for you
No lymph node involvement is BIG......I am so happy for you. And glad that you have answers to your questions. What is "second nature" to physicians, is not for most of us and I think they tend to forget that, sometimes, when dealing day in and day out with patient's illnesses. I worked in the medical field for years, and I was quilty of that also....even though I tried not to be......We have to be our own advocate in our quest for answers!
I send prayers and best wishes!

What part of North Carolina are you from? I'm from a little town called New London. Just a little hole in the wall, but we love it there. Beautiful. And it was gorgeous over the weekend. I hated to see it end.
