Well, I can't believe that another weekend is upon us. I was just sorting out my goals for the week, and whallah, it's the weekend. I think I was pretty good with my healthy eating this week. The exercise could have been better. Wednesday was not a success. Next week my goal is at least THREE sessions of cycling. But, this is not Goal Monday, it's ROLL CALL FRIDAY!! So, here is what I have going on this weekend:

Tonight, I might have a quiet evening. Instead of dinner and drinks out, I may just go home from work and slip into a warm bubble bath with my latest New Yorker (I'm still behind!) and my cats at the ledge, sniffing the water. Then maybe, we'll have roast chicken leftovers with potatoes and lentils, followed by a Netflix movie and a good night's sleep under the fluffy white down "cold weather" comforter.

Saturday I am again working out with my trainer in the morning. The rest of the day is free, so I plan to go grocery shopping, cooking, film editing, reading, and watching more movies.

Sunday, I have a busier day. I'm meeting a very good friend who is in town with her new baby. I will see the baby at her mother-in-law's house and then we have reservations for a quiet brunch at a cute little place in my old DC neighborhood. After catching up with her (a successful professor and author now, doing her third book tour. So proud of her!), Simon and I are headed to a friend's house to plan our backcountry backpacking trip next weekend. We will be hiking all of our food and water in, so we need to plan how to divide up food and equipment. We've already restocked our titanium cooking sets, so all set and excited for the trip. I love cooking on an open fire.

So, now that I've told you about my weekend, it's YOUR turn: What are you all doing this weekend??!!

    Off to my homeland
I'm flying out of town before the crack of dawn tomorrow to attend a convention in Milwaukee, WI. 1,999 academic web geeks wondering why on earth the convention is being held in Milwaukee and one (guess who?) yelling "HOME SWEET HOME!"

So please, ladies, keep an eye on my sweet little Moopy for me and make sure she doesn't get into too much trouble, okay?

Well, Reggie and I adopted a shelter dog yesterday and we are bringing him home today! Not that he isn't smart enough, but he is at the vets today...I told him he was spending the day there getting "tutored", and I think he believed me! :-)

He is an 8 month old bloodhound/shepherd mix ( what was I thinking???) but he is so beautiful, and he looked at me and I could tell that he wanted to be part of our family...

I am a bit concerned about the true master of the house, our Russian Blue cat, but he got along remarkably well with our last dog ( a shepherd mix we put down at age 18!) so I am hopeful.

I dare say, this new additon, who I instantly named Cooper, will keep me busy not just this weekend, but into the next few as well!

    Hugs,

    Good for you and Reggie!
I was in charge of taking both Yongy (four years ago) and Anubis (a year and a half ago) to get "tutored." Every so often one or the other of our boys jumps up out of nowhere into my defenseless lap just to remind me of that fact. I'm sure Cooper will bless you for many, many years with his loving companionship.

    Have fun, Joe
And Moopy should have a fun girls' weekend of her own. We'll help her plan it out and everything. It begins with the spa and ends with shopping. My best to you both.

    Awww, a shelter dog
How wonderful. I've been longing for a dog, myself. I hope your Russian cat will do OK with him and not feel threatened. You might have to reward her with extra treats and scratches behind the ear. We constantly ask our two cats if they wouldn't want a brand new "dog brother." They have so far refused... Sounds like a great fall weekend to me.

    Congrats. We love our mix
Congrats. We love our mix dog. Don't know what she is because we found her lost, sick, and hungry. She is part of our family and goes everywhere with us. He is a lucky dog to have found a home with you.

    My weekend
Well, tonight will be a quiet night. Saturday morning I'm going to a service of repentance for the Episcopal Church's complicity in and benefitting from slavery. Saturday night my husband, Vince, and I are meeting a friend of mine and her husband (who neither of us has met before) at a free local music festival in Eagle Rock, CA - an urban area 5 miles north of downtown LA - where we will wander around to all the venues looking for music we might like (most of the bands are extremely alternative) and eating dinner somewhere along the way.

Sunday morning I will celebrate Eucharist (I am an Episcopal priest) then take my sister to lunch. Sunday afternoon I will crash & rest, then we might have a family barbecue in the evening.

It's a much busier weekend than I am usually able to cope with - but it's all good things so I'm going to give it a try.

Hope you all have a good weekend.

    Hugs,

    Fran

I am at a conference among friends in Sun Valley! First time here and it is gorgeous. The conference ends tomorrow at noon, and then there is 5 hour drive home through the fall mountains. I am just so glad to be alive.

    I'm stuck at home!
They finally started work on our house yesterday from the hail damage in July!! I have a dumpster in my driveway 2 car lengths long! They are hoping to get the roof worked on over the next three days. I have earplugs....but not sure that will help! LOL It gets very loud here. I picked out my new doors, mailbox, and doorknocker. I have also decided on the fancy colonial spindles for my railings. The only thing left to decide on is shutter style. Son left for the weekend (lucky him) but I am stuck here for supervision. Hubby will be running all the errands today (there goes his parking space!). The crew is super nice and we get along well. Hoping the roofing can be done by Tuesday (day of surgery) so I will be able to rest. Good thing painting is the quiet part! Pammy

Well, put some good movies in the DVD player
At least! Hope you have a semi-relaxing weekend. It'll be nice when your house is finished.

    Fun!
I haven't been to a hayride in years.

Well, we ended up going out for dinner last night after all. Really nice place, but next time we'll sit in the bar and have appetizers, drinks, and dessert. That was the best part of the meal.

Today, my trainer worked me really hard at the gym. I think I'll be paying for it for a few days! Then we went grocery shopping and I worked a little on my editing. Now, we're relaxing on the couch, watching a movie on television, cooking, and planning our camping trip next week. GREAT day. Hope everyone else is having a good weekend. Update if you feel like it.

    A question about

    Mimi,

A question about exercise and working with a trainer ... are you able to lift weights? I don't know if you had a masc. or not ... I posted a thread a few weeks ago about mast. and weight lifting. Just wondering, if you don't mind me asking, what kind of exercises are you doing? Weightraining and working out is a big part of my life and a part I really don't want to give up. Just wondering! :)

    is it the weekend?
I'm living vicariously through your weekend. I'm recovering from surgery still though was more mobile today than I've been yet. Went to my son's swim lesson and then our annual neighborhood block party. Kicked my husband's **** at scrabble and now heading for bed. Tomorrow no plans other than to read the Sunday times on the back porch. I miss exercising! I had surgery just last week, but I feel as if my stomache is now huge. I know part is from the painkillers - constipation that lasted one week ugghh, but now I still feel all huge. Anyone else experience this? Exercise soon enough. Happy weekend everyone. Sheri

    Sorry, Sherik!
    Good for you

    Sorry, Sherik!

Good for you though, kicking your husband's **** at Scrabble! :)

Most likely it's the painkillers that caused the constipation. No worries about the belly bloat ... you'll be back at it soon enough!

Enjoy the Times, drink plenty of water and rest so you can heal faster! :)

    Be well,
