Eight years ago i was diagnosed with cervix cancer I had 12 surgeries for it including a hysterectomy they left both ovaries. The state of TN took my insurance they said my husband makes 26 dollars to much a month. On August 14th of this year my husband rushed me to the ER where they found a large leaking cyst on right ovary, kidney stones, high pancarease levels, and gall stones with the gall bladder collasped. They said they are pretty sure I have ovarian cancer, my stomach swells so big I look 7 months pregnant, my bowls want move yet they sent me home as soon as they found out I had no insurance! I've called every local doctor and emailed every hostpital even President Obama. I watch my 13 year old son and 9 year old daughter take care of me while my husband works and worries csn any one help me????

SORRY TO HEAR OF YOUR SITUATION
I'm so glad you came to this discussion board. I'm on my way to work, and don't have any immediate suggestions, but I know others will chime in soon. Later, I'll check back and see what else I can suggest for you.

This is such a horrible situation for you and your family. First of all, I pray that you will get to a doctor/oncologist soon who will work with you on this. As far as hoping for new health care, I wouldn't put any stock in it. There's no doubt we need health care reform. But government run health care will be a disaster (in my opinion), and you will find yourself in much the same type of situation - can't get treatment, can't get medicines, etc., etc. Anyway, I won't elaborate at this time on this situation.

Please know that I will pray that your pain will subside and that a door will be opened to find some help. I will also pray for strength for you and your family. And I will definitely, check back after work to see if anyone can suggest something for you. I will also try to research this throughout the day to give you something also.

P.S. It would be very difficult for someone to actualy diagnose OVCA without surgery or biopsies. You have so much going on that it could very well be just a combination of all these situations. Don't think the worst.

    Try a different ER???
Maybe you could try a different ER at a large teaching hospital for example. Vanderbuilt in Nashville???
The gall stones are nothing to sneeze at and need to be addressed, too. With all of your diagnoses, you couldn't buy insurance now that would cover anything, I'd bet. I think the ER has to treat a life threatening situation but hate for you to wait for that. Saundra

    Hugs ♥ Prayers
Hi T, What a time for no insurance you have recieved some great responses so far. I know there are patient advocates that could help if the clinic you found doesn't work out. Call the 800 for American Cancer Society or Cancer Care and see what they can do to help. Sending lots of prayers n hugs your way. Bonnie

    Hi T
What a load you are carrying. The one thing I might suggest is that I noticed you said that you were 'waiting for that clinic to call', don't wait call them and check in yourself. I have gotten many earlier appts through following up myself and not waiting for the slow system to get in touch with me.

Another idea I had for you to think about if you are short of money for treatments or surgeries etc down the road is to ask someone to throw your family a fundraiser to help you guys out. I don't know if you are in that spot yet that you might have to go to that extreme but many have done that to great success. What the heck, when a person needs help if people can help then why not. Just an idea.

All the best and hope that this doctor you have found will help guide you through the system and that all will be okay in the end. Keep the faith and pray for help so that you can be there for your kids. Blessings, Bluerose

    Vanderbilt
I found a place on Vanderbilts web site that says you can talk to a financial evaluator. There is a simple online form. Then they will call you. I don't know if it will help, but it's worth a try. This is the link http://www.vicc.org/cancercare/forpatients/payment.php
It's toward the bottom of the page.
    Don't give up!

    some suggestions...
I am so sorry to hear of your situation! I will comment no further on the state of healthcare in this country except to say that I a very angry about it.

Here are a couple of things you might try: Contact your govenor's office and ask to speak to the "Omibusperson"; they are like "troubleshooters" for the governor; while putting that pot on to boil; contact the local hospital, preferrably the largest one near you, ask to speak to a medical social worker and see what he/she has to say, they often times have an ear to the ground about financial assistance; while you are putting this second pot on the stove, be sure, particularly now, that you contact your congressman's office--the local office, ask to speak to the aide that handles health care issues for the congressman; a phone call gets some play; a letter gets more play, and a visit gets their attention. If you have a friend or family member that can help as your advocate put them to work. Turn up the heat on all burners until a solution surfaces.

I am sorry that at a time when you really need help; your whole family needs help, that you have to be an advocate for healthcare; a medical consumer; a wife and mother (which are the most important roles) and lastly a patient all at the same time.

I hold out hope that someone is listening and prayes will be answered.

    Just got back from ER
and this is what happened; They did blood work said my WBC count was very high and did another ct scan this time they ran dye through me said my right ovary has a small tumor on back of it and my right ovary is leaking blood into my pelvis area. They gave me a shot of morphine and told me to find a gynocolgy/onocolgy doctor they also found a large cyst on left ovary, said they are to small of a hospital to help me. I begged them to send me to a bigger hospital and they wouldn't, they said if I dont find help soon my ovary is going to rupture and I'll die, I have cried all day.

    Dear t30
I live in Japan and don't have insurance in the US and don't really know how the system works. I am very concerned to hear your story. I can't offer any suggestions, but please don't give up and pound on some more doors. I will pray for you today, that God will reach down and make a way for you.
    Warm hugs,
    kathleen:)

PS I am just curious who covered your 12 surgeries (is that number correct?) before?

    surgeries before
My last 12 surgeries I had insurance through the state, they took it when my husband got his new job. They say he makes 26 dollars to much a month to keep the insurance. Thank you for the prayers my children stayed out of school today to take care of me.

What State do you live in?
Have you tried all kids (they cover moms too)? I have 2 daughters and they went by my income and the more I make the more you have to pay.. but, it's good insurance and I haven't had any problems with it. It won't matter how much your husband makes... I live in Illinois and it's the same way in Indiana.

Our website for all kids care is: http://www.allkidscovered.com/

that is the website I used and I have had it for over a year. it took me about 20 minute to fill out and fax proof of income and I had it within 2 weeks.

I hope this helps.. good luck and please keep us updated

This is unforgivable! I am aghast that this can be happening!
This is soooooo wrong! My heart aches to thinek that this can heppen in a nation like ours!

I feel so helpless, wanting to do somethung, with no real ideas at all to offer.

Healthcare is such a big political issue. Please call your local legislator (choose any one that is a DEMOCRRAT), as he/she may very well be fighting for Obama's nationalized healthcare. They may be eager to bring your concern to the public eye (for his/her own political agenda) and perhaps shame a health provider into doing what is right by you.

    (((((Big gentle hugs))))))).
