Blood Counts Today

I have a monthly big blood test where they test everything. I've had maybe 4 CEA tests and this one came back 0.8 where the others came back <0.5. I asked my oncologist about this and he said this number was really low. I just didn't want it to move up. I heard that this can fluctuate due to many things and chemo is one of them. Does this happen to others?

Also, Alkaline Phosphate is above normal. It was lower about two months ago and it seems to keep creeping up.

SGOT is slightly above normal - coming back into normal range
SGPT is middle of normal range.

This is a new oncologist doctor for me since mine is on maternity leave and he thought everything was good. Really like this doctor.

I just get nervous when things are changing with my blood counts. I tend to over analyze everything so I think of all the reasons why these change. I just hate tests.

    My way of thinking............
We are very critical of every bump and rise or fall be it ever so slight because of the idea that the "c" word has come back but everything we eat affects our blood levels and everything else they check...I wouldn't worry about an increase that minute'. Enjoy the words he gave you and let the other go....Did you notice that the "c" word was lowercase.....it doesn't deserve to be any bigger than what it is......Kim, enjoy the moment.....Bless ya, Clift

Same thing happened to me, when my cea reading changed from 0.5 to 0.9 always that will make you wonder, but I knew that anyway 0.9 was very low cea so I dicarded all the bad thoughts, and stop worrying, and the results of all my scans have been clear, so please think positive because that cea reading of yours is fantastic.

I understand your concerns but less than 1 is a great CEA. I hope that it stays there.

    Kim,

I can so understand why you would immediately jump to concerned mode. I would, too! But really, really, really, this sounds good.

    Glad you like the doctor!
