Taxol/Herceptin Question

Has Taxol and/or Herceptin made anyone's skin thin (for lack of a better term)? It takes virtually nothing to cause bleeding; mild scratches bleed, nose bleeds. Is this the Taxol? I've only got one more to go (12 total treatments), then continue on with the Herceptin for a year, plus Arimedix (sp) for 5 years. Is it likely that my skin will return to normal after the Taxol? I start radiation in a month, but don't expect that to factor into this. The A/C didn't have this effect.

Thanks.
Paula

    Hi Paula. I didn't have
Hi Paula. I didn't have Taxol or Herceptin, so, I can't answer you specifically.

But, I think I read on here before where someone's skin seemed to thin out due to chemo, but, I can't remember who it was.

Hopefully, they will post and help you out.

    Wishing you good luck!

    Welcome Paula
The only skin that thinned out while I was on Taxol w/Herceptin plus the A/C treatment that I had before that was my nose and I had bloody noses everytime I blew my nose--so tried not to blow and just wipe.

Seems to be getting better now--my last treatment of Taxol was 7/23.

    Hugs,
    Margo

The nose bleeds are a nuisance, but manageable. I'm glad to hear that will improve. So, perhaps the rest will follow? Balance issues have been a problem as well. I fell walking to dog yesterday, took a good header straight on my face and hand, and ended up bleeding in 7 places (just a little each area), and a dirt snack. What normally would have been nothing ended up being road rash spots from head to toe.

I felt like a Vaudville act. LOL.

    Just like Margo
My nose "situation" was just like Margo's. When I'd wake up in the mornings my nose would feel "plugged up" and when I'd blow my nose it would bleed. But ... it all stopped after I finished Taxol/herceptin ... so it must have been the taxol.

As far as the "thin skin" ... I did have skin problems with taxol. I got a pretty bad rash on my back the first week and ended up at the dermatologist. Then ... as I lost hair my skin would itch. I finished with taxol the end of May but around the beginning of July I noticed my nails were looking funky. Kind of looked like I'd smashed them in the door ... bruised under the nail. I've lost a few toenails ... and finger nails are looking funny ... but I don't think I'll lose any of them.

Hair is very, very, very slowly showing up. Still not long enough to hold onto .. but I can tell it's coming instead of going. :-) Whooooppppeee!

    hugs.
