Update on Mom

Yesterday, my mom and her significant other came to visit me at my work in the mall! Thank goodness the mall customer service has wheelchairs for people :)

I am still sick with a cold.. it is almost gone, but I put a mask on my face (thank goodness for working at a Japanese store!! MASKS!!) and washed my hands. I have hand sanitizer in my apron just in case I encounter sick people.

Anyways, I gave her a hug. My coworkers were very kind to her. One of my coworkers is Japanese and has been in America for over 20 years. She is a Christian and has been putting in prayer request for my mom at her church. She talked to my mom for a while.

My mom was very happy.

My mom told me that she noticed something different about herself.

The neck has lymph nodes, right?

She said that there was lumps and it was solid before she had surgery back in May. She touched them the other day and it has gone down to the point that she can't feel the nodes very much.

I hope that is a good thing :)

EDIT: I went to a new doctor today for a physical. I did not have to have a pap smear & exam because I had one at Planned Parenthood this past year. I plan to switch to a oncologist/gyno for next year's exam.

However, I told my doctor about my mom and that Ovarian Cancer runs in the family. I will be doing blood work next week because I had ate before my appointment. But he will do a regular blood test and request for a CA125.

    I hope you feel well very quickly, and I'm glad that you are keeping up on your own health care.

    Yes there are lymph nodes in the neck, they are also called glands.
    Before my surgery in 2007, I had one on my collar bone the size of a large lima bean.
    As my chemotherapy progressed, I could see and feel it getting smaller. Now I can't even find it, so that's definitely a good sign for Mom.

    I really feel that the chemo is working for her!

    Hi Brittany,

    I am Lisa13Q who just found out about my mother's OVCA days ago, so I don't know a lot, but I do know that not being able to feel the lymph nodes is a GREAT thing. So celebrate!!! I am also so glad there is someone else on the board who is supporting their Mom through this. I think we have different fears and apprehensions and I can't wait to hear from you how your Mom is doing so much better!!! Thanks for sharing.
