edited March 2014 in Breast Cancer #1
Hi all I am at my friends home resting comfotably. They removed a quarter size peice of skin and fatty tissue, the pulled it all togeather and gave me 3 levels of stitches. I have stage 1 melenoma, the treatment for it is exactly what they did to day. So it is all gone, and they took there extra pound of flesh just to be sure that all the margins are clear.
So now i have a scar on both sides of my left breast and it is all equal. However the next time ths breast decides to get wonky we will be having a permant seperation.
Love to all
Happy Smiles

If you don't mind my asking,
If you don't mind my asking, what did the wonky mole look like and was it there before all your treatments? I have had squamous cell skin cancer that presented as a cauliflower looking wart. It was removed and so was a margin around it and that was it. I am supposed to be checked every year but I tend to drag it out to 2 years. I am so glad this was caught so early because melanoma is nothing to play around with. And even happier that nothing further is needed. I hope your warning has put your breast on it's best behavior. Sometimes they are such boobs.

    Hotline, email, something...
I've often demanded that the minister of my church find us a hotline, 800 number, email address, SOMETHING that can be used to register complaints when life throws as much at folks as it's throwing at you, TJ.

If she ever comes through with anything, I'll let you know. In the meantime, rest well.

    how it looked
Well I did have the mole before the breast cancer and it did happen to be on the same breast that the kind doctors radiated. But any way from what the dorctor was telling you should be able tofole the mole in half and have if meet the edges, and yest i did get a puzzeled look on my face as i looked at a freckle on my arm trying to figure out how to fold it. it was then she told me i was suppose to do using my imagination.
basicly what you need to watch for is changing in the color, texture, and shape of the mole. mine went from this nice little round thing at a medium brown to one side looking like it was trying to grow little limbs and it started to get black on that side. This is alway a good indicator somthing is wonky.
Please Stef do not drag out your appt to have things checked, I was really suprised to find out how many folks die from skin cancer these days. if it goes to far it is not an easy fix like mine was, and belive me my poor boob is screaming at right now.
    take care

    I knew that they say
I knew that they say irregular edges and the folding it in your mind is a great way to visualize that. I also thought you meant literally at first. Mine had tenacles on it but it was white. I actually only had it checked by accident. My doctor was burning off some moles that were raised and annoying me. He said they were all normal little moles. Then I asked the doctor if he could remove a weird wart. He took one look and said he wanted to not only remove it but have it biopsied. He took the mole and a good size area around it and stitched it up. A few days later he called and said it was squamous cell skin cancer and he sent me to the dermatologist and they did the whole body look see. They found a couple other suspicious areas and did punch biopsies. One was cancer, the other two weren't. And they gave me this topical creme. I used it on those areas for a week or more. She said it's a topical chemo. I can't even remember the name. I have had punch biopsies done since then but they are always benign. I asked about how yours looked because I have a very tiny mole that was brown and is now black. It is barely bigger than a freckle and doesn't look irregular or mottled but I guess I will call and have it looked at. Thanks for the information and the good advice. Ang again, so glad your's was caught early.

    Hey, TJ...
I'm sincerely hoping you're feeling at least even a little bit better today. Glad to know they "got it all" - whew, relief. Thanks goodness, glad for that, happy for you.

Thanks for sharing - good reminders to all of us to be ever vigilant, and always have suspicious "things" (whatever they may be) checked by a med pro.

    Take good care.

    Kind regards, Susan
