Hi everyone. During my resection, I was told my liver looked great. 6 wks later had labs drawn before restarting chemo, an my liver enzymes were elvated. The doc wanted to do a CT right away, which ended up being clear. I don't know why the sudden elevation in these labs. Can anyone offer any info on this. Thanks.

    Possibly...
It could have been the surgery itself that elevated your enzymes.

    What I heard
That is what I heard from an oncologist. He told me CEA levels can go up with a surgery too. I found that interesting.

I would check with the doctor and report it so it can be on record.

    Liver
I am going through the same thing. When I was first diagnosed my liver counts were great, after the tests and colonoscopy my counts went up. They came back down. Just as I got ready to go in for my 3 month check up again everything looked great all results came back excellent NED two weeks after colonoscopy my liver counts went up. You mentioned you had surgery....wonder just like in my case if it isn't the anesthesia??? We are not certain that is what is causing mine but it seems like the common denominator. All those drugs they give you for the tests and surgery does go through your liver just like alcohol or anything else you consume and they are hard for the liver to flush out. Just a guess.

    CEA
Just remember, CEA is not 100% when it starts going up, way to many variables involved, don't invite trouble just go on with the enjoyment of the time NED until something for sure comes up, which hopefully it never does........you just always keep in your mind that you have control of your life and emotions, not cancer or the possibility of........ :) bless ya
