Hey everybody. Just got back in town. I LOVE my Medical Ocologist. She is awesome!! The great news is NO CHEMO!!!! Just Rads (I see Radiation Oncologist this Friday) and Hormone therapy.
Will be in 2 different clinical studies still. Since I have osteopena (Thats what you get right before you get osteoporosis), one of the studies will be giving me IV therapy monthly to rebuild my bones (Hope it works!).
Also had the BRCA1 + BRAC2 Gene test done. Will know results in a couple weeks. But looks like I will probably have my Ovaries removed anyway. Not a hurry to get it done just yet, I've still got time.
I got bombarded with oodles of info today that they had to laugh at us because I looked like a school kid about to flunk an exam!! They apologized for throwing so much at us at one time.
We are going out to dinner this evening with my Daughter & her hubby to celebrate!!
It's been a long day and all I can say is....sigh!! :) Pammy

    Also

I am so hapy for you!
Also wondering what made you decide to get ovaries out. I will be seeing a doc about that also, hopefully soon.
Also I work wo\ith someone who had osteoporosis and then went on a med for that and now has ostepnia(sp?) so it can go both ways. Jsut thought this might help you feel better about having it.

sure is great you don't have to do chemo. Sounds wonderful to me. Now you can fly through rads without the worry of being bald.
    Happy for you!

    ovaries....
The reason I have decided to remove my ovaries is because I had a historectomy 4 years ago but left them in. Now I am at increase risk of getting ovarian cancer since I have BC and also may test positive for BRCA gene. This raised the risk of ovarian cancer up to 55% that I will develop it. That makes it a whoa...these babies gotta go decision for me!!
If your friend went from osteoporosis to osteopina by taking the meds, that is a good sign! That means the bone loss is reversing. This is wonderful news. My hope is to take that one step further and go from osteopina to normal bone mass!! :) Pammy
