Hi Everyone,

Had the surgery yesterday am at my daughter's house. Kind of having trouble sleeping. The pain has not been too bad, but I think pretty soon this magic bullet the doc gave me will be running out. Got my prescription for pain killers anyway. It really wasn't as bad as I thought. Had modified radical masectomy. Will be finding out more at the doctor's on Monday. She was really pleased and said cancer gone 99.99%. She took out underarm lymph nodes, even though there was no evidence of cancer. She said we will get the other .1% with treatment. She isn't taking any chances.

Just good to have at least this past me. Will find out about what kind of treatment probably Monday when I see her, then the oncologist.

Glad to be back.

Very very gentle hugs to all.
Maryann

    Success
I'm glad your surgery was a success so far. The hardest part is waiting for the final pathology report. Take pain meds if needed. The surgeon can recommend the options but the oncologist is more specialized in that area so listen to both and get answers to questions. Also, don't be afraid to ask for a copy of your path report--you need to start a journal for all your medical information. Even get copies of the consult/office notes from all the specialists so there is no question as to what was said to you.

    Take it easy.

I'm very happy that you did so well during surgery. You are on the road to recovery from that and then get treatments started. On your way, girl! And thank you for keeping us updated. I remember that it wasn't quite so easy to type for awhile after lymph nodes were removed!

Sending gentle hugs back to you.

    Good news!
Maryann, glad that your surgery is now behind you. And, your nodes were clean? Now, you just rest and take those pain pills. And, good luck with your appt. on Monday. Be sure and let us know what you find out. And, like Margo said, get a copy of your pathology report for your own records. Good luck Maryann and take care!

Glad you are with your daughter to care for you, and that the surgery is over and behind you. Time to pamper yourself, stay in your jammies for a few days (if you want to) and watch all the good movies you've wanted to for so long. And NAP, NAP, NAP cause rest helps us heal.

Maryann, I'm glad to hear it is over and that you are doing well. Keep on resting and you'll be fine. Good movies, snacks, and pain pills will get you through. Post when you can and ask your doc. about sleeping aids if you continue to stay awake. You need adequate sleep to heal.

    Thank you everyone. Doing
Thank you everyone. Doing okay at daughters. Pain pump emptied. That thing is awesome. Now on Percocet. Trust me, I'm taking them at the correct hours. No hero here. I'm a coward and don't tolerate pain very well.I was told before surgery that mri and pathologist report, you know that one that you get when they do the core biopsy, the path report said no evidence of lymph node invasion, but she took out the underarms ones anyway. She didn't say anything if they were tested at the time and quite frankly I didn't care. They were gone!

Thanks to everyone for being so caring.
