The Wait

edited March 2014 in Ovarian Cancer #1
In that 'wait' mode after the pelvic ultrasound which confirmed a node in my right ovary. It's very small so there is no diagnosis of what it is, have to wait for the gyno to come back from her holidays for the final verdict on our next move. The appt. is July 10th so not too far away but the waits always seem so much longer when you are waiting to proceed. I am a 20 year survivor of NHL and to think of going back into cancer treatment after all those years is just so scary. I had a bone marrow transplant and nearly died of congestive heart failure during it so I have suffered a lot of damage from chemo drugs and total body radiation already so treatments for any other cancers will be limited for sure. I am trying not to get ahead of myself with worry but you all know how it goes.

My family doctor said that she of course can't tell for sure what it is but chances are good it isn't cancer but even if it is ovarian she is sure it is totally operable. I have had this family doctor for almost 30 years and she knows me well and all I have been through so I am lucky to have her.

Anywho, the 'wait' is starting to get to me, just felt like writing about it. Hope you don't mind. There is so much waiting in this cancer journey. Take care. Blessings, Blueroses.

    Yes, lots of waiting
    Blueroses,
I'm so very sorry you have to wait so long to take the next steps in discovering what is going on with your ovary. I know how hard it is to wait for one week to have a test, can't imagine waiting 3 weeks. I also know how easy it is for someone else to say not to worry and to think about other things, but this is quite a lot harder when you're the one trying to do it. Can you get something for the anxiety in the meantime, from another doctor? This is not being weak, it is being smart.
We will pray for God's peace for you while waiting.
    Love and hugs,
    Carol

    Waiting
Dear Blueroses, I have no advice or answers to the waiting, but did want to share that you are not alone in your feelings. I've had several stressful times waiting for results or to know what is going to happen next. It is so frustrating! God's peace be with you! Love, Karen

    Thanks Carol
Well after being a cancer survivor for 20 years you would think I would be used to waiting but like invasive treatments and tests I have just become a bigger wuss. lol. I do have some anti anxiety drugs if I need them but I don't need them right now but they are here if I do get antsy. Thanks for your words of support and suggestions. Hugs, Blueroses

    Waiting - a little philosophy :-)
Waiting is in each day, waiting for results, for company, for money, for sunshine, for rain ~ there always seems to be things we have to wait for. I always say this is God's way of making me work on my patience. :-)

Saying a prayer for great results after the wait as well as peace during the waiting period. May lots of distractions and joy take your mind off the wait. May God fill you with his peace.

From a person who has played the waiting game way more than I cared to have.

    Hugs N Prayers Bonnie

    Good one
Thanks for your comments Bonnie, you are absolutely right about 'waiting' - it's there in everything we do at some point or another and I never thought of it that way but it makes sense that it's God's way of having us practice patience. Good one.

Thanks for your words of wisdom and caring thoughts. Hope today is a good one for you. Blessings, Blueroses.
