I had my last radiation treatment today! 37 total, 25 to the entire area and 12 boosters. These last few "boosters" were the worse. I am soooooooooo glad they are finally over. I am really tired and I hope my energy will return soon. My breast is burnt, since the lumpectomy site is right on it. So, it is burnt, blistered and very sore. :( But, they said it would heal soon and to keep using the cremes, which I will. It seemed this day would never come..I am so happy that the rads are over! And, CONGRATS to all of you that finished them!

This is me after my last one! I loved the techs..they were all so nice! Notice the very thick door on the left. That is the entrance to the radiation room. It looked like it was a foot thick of concrete. YIKES! lol

    Congratulations! Believe it
Congratulations! Believe it or not, I actually missed going in for my daily zap. It was a routine that was a lot better than chemo. That was back in 2004.

    Heartfelt Congratulations, Jeanne D! :-)
Good, good, good for you! WOW! Huge accomplishment!

Though sorry for your current "burnt" status and the accompanying discomfort... You WILL begin to heal, and quickly, now that your rads are completed.

    Kind regards, Susan

    congrats!
so many are finishing up. This is wonderful, just remember, you are not done cooking yet, so keep the creams going! they always do the boosters on the scar so it does burn more than the rest.
congrats again. next phase: follow ups - it's a breeze

Just joined but wanted to say congrats!
Congratulations to you Jeanne D! I am starting radiation soon and will be reading the posts on here to see what to expect. The radiation oncologist has told me and given me literature, but, it always better to get first hand experience. So, wish me luck and congrats again to you!

    Boosters??? What are they???????
Whoooooo hoooo! Congrats!!! I also had a lumpectomy, with positive lymphnodes, chemo and rads, but I have been meaning to ask: What in Hell-o are Boosters??? I imagine that in 6 years treatments have advanced to infinity and beyond~ yet even Googling radiation boosters has given NO workable answers~ so what are they?? How are they more, or better than "plain old"?

Thanks in advance for the info! and once more,CONGRATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Hugs,
    Claudia

    Boosters
Hey Claudia Boosters are targeted to the area where the tumor was located. They do a more concentrated and higher dose in that one spot and is usually done at the end after the whole breast area was radiated. Hugs, Lili

    I know the feeling....Yeah!!!!!
I understand how you're feeling. Yes, yes, yes. The burns do heal, and usually rather quickly. The fatigue does fade away. Hip, hip, hooray! I finished June 26, 2008. My stamina is almost as good as it was before. Congratulations. Way to go, girl! Hugs, Marilynn
