    Meds...
Has the onc not prescribed any anti-nausea medications for him? No one should have to suffer through chemo, there are great meds out there to help out with the diarrhea and the vomiting...Emend, dexamethasone is what my onc has me on, please tell your onc about these symptoms, so he can give prescribe something for your husband.

    Vilma,

Your husband should not be suffering like this. You need to call the onc immediately and ask for anti-nausea meds. There are a host of options: Zophran, Compaizine, Emend, Sancuso...etc. Zofran worked well for me, but not for others. I fought insurance for Zofran but they pay for the more expensive Sancuso patch. That actually works better because I put one patch on each week and I get 24/7 nausea coverage. I'm on chemo 21 a month so I have nausea pretty much nonstop without any meds. Get him on something so he can eat. Losing weight quickly is not a good sign at all. He needs to eat.

I have lost about half of my small intestine and more large intestine than you want to know about. Add in chemo and rads....well, I can give some input on the diarrhea issue. I get
Sandostatin shots at each infusion. That is a must for me. I take (every day) a combination of: one dose Pepto Bismal, one dose Immodioum AD, 2 Lomitol. At the stage your husband is at in treatment that was at the first sign of dirrhea - the gas, cramps, loose stool, whatever. Then another dose with each loose stool following until it was under control. I have altered that slightly now due to the chronic nature of my situation. Talk to the onc and get some prescriptions and some over the counter stuff. Get on the regimen that his onc reccommends as my situation is certainly different and I am not a doctor.

The above is based on my situation, again, I'm not a doctor. I just want you to know that the doctor (more likely his nurse) is there to help with this and your husband needs that help.

    Good luck,

    Kimby

Edited to add: If your husband is having both vomiting and dirrhea he will dehydrate quickly. Make sure he is drinking something with electrolytes like Gatorade or Powerade. Dehydration will end him up in the hospital so be careful!
