Having Cancer Is Awesome!
April Fools!
Now that I have your attention....wow, a bit of a religious bruhaha going on. How refreshing that I am not in the middle of it! HA!
After being on these boards for over 7 years I have witnessed my share of them.
I think we all "go to hell" when we hear the words, "You have cancer". I heard a wonderful quote on the Today show the other morning:
"When you're going through hell, just keep on driving".
Isn't that just so true.
So when you join this Semi-Colon Family there's bound to be some fussing and fuming every so often. But things settle down, we lick our wounds, kiss and make up and go on being that wonderful cancer-kickin' family that we come to love so much. Eventually you either learn to tolerate your kooky cousin who has wheat grass coming out of her ears or loving you in the name of Jeeee-sus, or you stop coming to the party.
I especially love it when you stay at the party and get juiced up! WooHoo!

Wonderful to hear from you! How goes life on the lake in the Hinterlands? Hopefully you're well and warm and your wheat grass plantation survived the winter. Let's see... it's April now so only about 4 or 5 more months until summer arrives in your neck of the woods, eh?

Emily, from your profile, it looks like you're coming up on 8 years of being CURED! That's wonderful news!
I'm changing my diet to a Mediterranean diet and am drinking several fresh juices a day (taking baby steps here), eating fresh fruits and veggies at every meal and searching for anything and everything that I can do to help me be well and stay well. I gleaned a bit of information and a whole lot of hope from your profile / story.

There is truth in what you say. I've always felt that cancer gave me a wake up call. We are ALL going to die at some point, like it or not, and to get a sneak preview has been a good thing for me. I find I appreciate life, my kids and family, Mother Nature, and other things even more than before. So it's not all bad.

Life is full of transition up here in the Hinterland of the Great GitcheeGummee. (are you humming to Gordon Lightfoot yet?). I'll eventually be moving from the Northwoods to another Great Lake, but we're keeping the cabin. It's time to engage in our family's business so off I go to an new adventure in my old home town. As much as I LOVE dogsledding, skiing, snowshoeing etc, I AM looking forward to NOT having to wait until July for summer to kick in. :-)

That is AWESOME about your 3rd 5K! Now get going on signing up for a Triathlon. The competitive swimmer in you will come forth. They are so fun and you get the finest feeling of accomplishment. How's your knee doing?
They have camps and workshops for women who want to get into Triathlons and they host women-only races around the country. (wink wink)
