You know sometimes you just want a nice warm fudgy piece of chocolate cake but you don't feel like the hassle of getting out the mixer and having all the mess. Well here is a simple little recipe that will meet that need. I hope you try it and enjoy it, I had mine earlier today.

CHOCOLATE CAKE FOR ONE

1 Coffee Mug
4 tablespoons flour(that's plain flour, not self-rising)
4 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons baking cocoa
1 egg
3 tablespoons milk
3 tablespoons oil
3 tablespoons chocolate chips (optional)
Small splash of vanilla

Add dry ingredients to mug, and mix well . Add the egg and mix thoroughly.
Pour in the milk and oil and mix well.
Add the chocolate chips (if using) and vanilla, and mix again.
Put your mug in the microwave and cook for 3 minutes at 1000 watts. The cake will rise over the top of the mug, but don't be alarmed.

You can also add nuts and/or 2 tblsp of chocolate syrup to make it richer if desired.

Allow to cool a little, and enjoy....! Oh yeah, don't forget the scoop of vanilla ice cream!

    Just what I need
Do you have any adjustments for oven baking. I got rid of my microwave a long time ago as it was a very expensive coffee warmer :) It sounds good and I love chocolate.

    Possible modification
You know Jan I have not made it in the oven, however I am betting if you have a small oven proof (perhaps pyrex) container you could put the same mixture in the oven for approx. 15 minutes which should be enough time for it to cook completely through. Hope this works for you, it is a tasty little treat.

    My best to you,

    Cruel Chocolate
Now, Re, this is truly cruel. Here I am suffering from chemo taste buds, and you are giving us a fudgy cake recipe. My mouth would water, but it can't due to chemo mouth.

Oh, well, at least I can comfort myself with the vanilla ice cream:)

    Ahhh Moopy I am sorry!
During Chemo chocolate was one of the tastes that was able to get through. If you are having a metal taste in your mouth please stop using metal utensils and start using solid plastic ones. This switch worked wonders for me, I hope it does the same for you.

    Many many ((((((HUGS))))))

    Chocolate!
The recipe sounds great, RE. Sorry you are still suffering, Moopy. Last time I went through this, the tart taste of olives came through.

    Looking Forward to Mug Cake
Hi, Re, I will try the plastic utensils. Thank you for this tip. And, as Jan said, fudgy chocolate cake is something to look forward to! I will definitely keep the recipe for myself and also send it to some friends.

I hope you are getting better each day since the surgery.

You are sooo thoughtful, RE! A funny thing...I must be the only person on the planet who says "ho-hum" when it comes to chocolate or actually anything sweet! I am not sure why that is, and trust me, I have spent considerable time thinking about it! :-)

My mom and dad were both adventuresome cooks and diners~ we ate out at "fancy" restaurants a lot while I was growing up in Europe, and my mom and dad introduced all 6 kids to the most amazing gastronomic delights. Oddly enough, I have no memory of deserts being served at home, ever! Escargot, Lobster, Brie,Paella, Wine...that I remember!

I think I still have Christmas candy in the house, and I know I had to throw out Easter candy to make room for it!

Wish I could blame it on Cancer or Chemo~ these beasts can surely handle the wrath. But no.....it isn't that I don't LIKE chocolate per se, it just doesn't call my name. It is 10:45 at night, and I just raided the kitchen. There are homemeade chocolate chip cookies, and Heath bars. Know what I chose? The grilled artichoke I had left-over from last night! HELP!!!
    lol

    Me, too
I am like this, too, Claudia. Much more interested in the escargot and lobster than the chocolate. I think it's just a palate thing. But I have learned to enjoy desserts over the years. Now I indulge in a little bit of very dark, very good quality chocolate after dinner. Good for the heart and reduces inflammation. I'll take it.

    And me
I'm not a chocolate person either, I love cheese, vegetables and salad. How boring am I? Jxxxxxxxxxx

You all are making me laugh, I must admit I LOVE my chocolate but I too have times when a nice bowl of crisp veges is preferred.

    Thanks for the laughs ladies,
