Cancer Returns

Anyone out there have Breast Cancer return in your bones?? Just got the news that my Breast Cancer after 4yrs has returned and shown up in my pelvis & hip bone. Have never heard of this befor except Elizabeth Edwards and feeling completely alone.

Anyone else out there

    I did not have it come back in my bones but heard it could. Once I thought it had and they did a bone scan but it came back ok. So sorry.

    No I am not far enough out and pray each day that all will be right. My thoughts are with you and I can only say that we will all be here for you. I do know of several people that this has occurred and it is devastating. What do your doctors say and what course of action are they offering. I pray the "sisters" read your post and respond both those that are in your foot steps and those just in prayers. My thoughts and spiritual hugs reach out to you and those that are around you. Angela

    Would you tell me the process that happened to show that this has developed. I know that I go in for blood test every 6 months, was it through a blood test or pain in the bones? Are you on arimidex or another hormone blocker and so forth. Angela

    You are in my prayers
    The only thing that they told me is that the bones are one of the first places it can go. I had a bone scan which was ok but i don't know how often they do these scans or much else about it. Please keep us informed, we will all be there for you to cheer you on, pray for you, or even if you just need to vent. I am praying for you tonight.

    Sorry that you're going through this again, but we're here for you. One of the most frightening facts about breast cancer is that it can recur at any time. I just finished chemo and radiation in December so I don't have anything to add about recurrence, but you'll probably find someone on this network with more information. Looking forward to hearing from you often.

    I am so sorry this is happening to you. I don't know much about recurrence in the bones except that it can be treated. You will be in my thoughts and prayers.

    I found lumps on my ribs and had a bone scan last week, still waiting for the results, then today my surgeon found another lump on the other breast and did a needle-biopsy...Man did that ever hurt!..So more results to be awaiting! Ain't life just a ball at times? Hugs to all J xxxx

    Please don't feel alone. There are many women out there that are or have experienced what you are going through. I myself haven't yet but here is a website that deals in recurrence and metastatic breast cancer.

    I can only imagine how disappointing it is to hear it's come back and I'm sorry you have to go through this. There are some ladies here that have had recurrences and are doing fine today so please don't lose hope.

    Julia, I am wishing and praying that all will be fine. Those needle-biopsy's do hurt like hell! My heart goes out to yours tonight and you are in my prayers.

    Wan, I haven't had a recurrence but wanted you to know you are in my prayers. There are many women here on this site that have had recurrences but if they """catch"""" it early, you can survive it. Please keep us posted. Hugs, Lili

    Isn't life a b**** sometimes? You think you have everything under control and then you get thrown a curve ball. I'm praying that everything comes out ok and that the lump is only a cyst. Please keep us posted. Love ya, Lili

    I am so sorry to hear of your news. My treatment ended in Dec '08 and I have not had a recurrence, as far as I know. My doctors do not run any special tests once treatment is over, unless there are symptoms present. They say I am in remission, yet I have no documents that truly show that.

    I'd like to offer these words of encouragement to you. Reading your information, I see that you are a believer. While at the hospital with my husband yesterday, I spent some time in the chapel while he was undergoing a ventral hernia repair. All the emotions of this past year and all that we have gone through as a family just weighed heavy on my heart and I was crying out to the Lord for some comfort. I believe He directed me to these verses in Lamentations 3:22-24:

    Because of the Lord's great love we are not consumed,
    for his compassions never fail.
    They are new every morning;
    great is your faithfulness.
    I say to myself, "The Lord is my portion;
    therefore, I will wait for him."

    If I have misread your faith in God, wan1135, I do apologize. These verses are meant to encourage you.

    I do hope that someone on this board who has had a similar experience will respond to your plea for help. It is so important for you to know that you are not alone. I met several women during my treatments who had bone metastises. Some took chemo pills, some were doing Herceptin treatments indefinitely, some were doing radiation. Most were living very full and active lives.

    I am praying for you. Many people have recurrence in the bones and are treated and live happy healthy lives for a long time. I pray that your docs will arrest the cancer cells and you will go back in remission and be happy and healthy again. Wish I could give you a real hug. Please keep us posted and I'll keep praying.
