edited March 2014 in Colorectal Cancer #1
Well, after a sleepless night preceding the surgery, and a very long day--I am happy to report that the thyroid cancer is removed from my mom's body. The surgeon said surgery went very well. He removed a few lymph nodes beneath her thyroid and said that something was going on beside her esophagus but he was able to remove what ever it was. We don't have the final pathology report, but the surgeon said he is pretty sure that she won't need any further treatment, i.e. radioactive iodine therapy. My mom is doing well, despite mild discomfort. She is tough. She hasn't had any pain meds since yesterday. They took a blood sample this morning and so long as her calcium level maintains, she will come home today! Thank you all for your prayers.

    On her way home!!
My mom's calcium levels remain normal! She just called me and my dad is taking her home. I have to get about 5 prescriptions filled for her, like she needs another pill to take, but well, in thyroid cancer world she is free from that beast.
