Hi, I also belong to the John Hopkins Ovarian site and this was a posting about our sweet Joanne today that I thought I would share with all our OVCA sisters, it is from her sister.

Dear (((((Friends))))))) I just want to update you on Joanne. (floridajo)
Joanne's blood pressure is very low and she is on medication to keep it raised. It was decided by her son and the rest of the family that she had fought long and hard and that it was time to let go. So we had her removed from Intensive Care and she has now been moved to a room so that all the family can stay with her. She is getting comfort care and all tubes and such have been removed. She is only getting her pain medication and hydration, comfort care.
She had a quiet night, Mom and our brother, Joe, stayed with her and my brother thinks she has slipped into a coma. We will be heading to the hospital within the next 50 minutes and I think that since I believe that people in coma can hear us, I am going to read your notes to her. I know how important you all were to her, she loved you, as you love her.

God bless you all and I send you strength hugs as we fight this disease. There comes a time though that the fight must stop and we are grateful and Joanne, with her son, has made the decision to stop. I know miracles happen, it would take a major miracle to change the condition of her body, the infection, and everything else to give her a quality of life that is what she wanted. Quality to love and live.
Strength hugs,
Karen

It is so sad to think that it is near the end for our dear Joanne. She has been a blessing to everyone. Her strength and courage have been an inspiration to all of us. My prayers are with her, and all her family. I will never forget this wise and courageous Teal Warrior.
Hugs and Prayers, Terry

Thank you so much Karen, our prayers are with you all at this difficult time, knowing that where there is love there is no darkness ~ still does not remove the mourning for those that have to leave before us.

Sadly, news from John Hopkins site about Joanne. Goodbye for now Joanne and big (((hugz))).

Hi ((((Friends))))) My sis got her angel wings at 2:57 pm this afternoon, central time. She went very peacefully and has earned the rest she now has. For those of you who continue this fight, please know just how much Joanne lived each day to the fullest and truly realized that her fight was over. I am proud to say that she died, as she lived, with dignity. We are, of course, heart-broken and there are no words left to say.

    DEAREST JOANNE
This is so hard to believe, as it doesn't seem that you posted all that long ago. Obviously, the Lord gave you the strength to continue to share with us, and ask that we uphold you in prayer. You are assured now that we did, and He has decided it was time to relieve you of your suffering, in spite of the hopes from your family and all of us that you would regain your health. He knew what was best for you, and now you are pain free, disease free, and in His Presence. How you must be rejoicing to be in the arms of the Lord, comforted, at peace.

May He heal our broken hearts, and those of your family. In time, I know He will replace the hurt with fond memories of you - much to smile about, laugh about, and reflect upon. You have been such an inspiration, a source of strength and hope for us all. Know that your life here on God's earth has been fruitful and blessed. And we are truly blessed to have known you.

To your family, Joanne, may God uplift all of you in spirit and strength. And may they know that we here are praying for their strength through this difficult time. Blessings to all of you.

    (((HUGS)))

    best is yet to come
Thanks for sharing with us. I am fairly new to this support group, yet we all feel such a bond with our cancer connection.

And as Christians we have an even closer bond through the Holy Spirit. And knowing that, when my day of leaving this body of mine comes, I will get to meet my sister Joanne face to face.

We know that the best is yet to come! Thank you, Jesus!

    Love,
    Libby

    Thanks, Karen
We would not have known, had you not posted this sad news. Joanne was such a wealth of knowledge for those of us that joined in early 2007. She was willing to share her love, experience and understanding and taught the new ones how by example. That is what keeps us all going, doesn't it?

To her family, I pray for your comfort in knowing that Joanne is free of her pain and struggle and that you were there for her to the end. Our promise, in Christ, is that we all go to a better place and we will all meet again. We mourn with you.

    No Words
I have no words to say what is in my heart. I have followed Joanne these past few years and it always amazed me how determined she was to just get on with living. No matter what came her way she just stepped through it. I will so miss her posts. And I learned so much from her. May she rest forever in God's peace. And may we really meet again someday face to face. Cindy

    news
I received notice from Nancy that Joanne had "Gotten her angels wings" as Karen said - that is so much better then saying she lost her battle. She didn't lose - she fought hard and long.

I have been posting since September of 2007 and Joanne along with all of the Teal Warriors have been so inspirational to me. When I have wanted to give up, I come here and receive support and hugs and love and warmth from people I don't really know - and it helps.

It is so reassuring that Joanne was able to go on her own terms - that is something I hope to do if it becomes my time to leave my son and family and world I so love. So at the end of her journey she is still providing me comfort.

My heart goes out to all of you and I will keep Joanne and her memory close in my heart.

    ((hugs))
