Does anyone know patterns for liver shrinkage? Husband has been on Folfurri first with Avastin( 8 mos) and now Erbitux--4 treatments. Cancer has stabalized on both colon and liver but no shrinkage. If the liver met is going to shrink, should it have done so after a year of chemo? Any info. if greatly appreciated.

I'm not sure there is a "typical pattern". But, I do know that "stable disease" is considered to be a good thing.

So be glad about the fact that it has stabilized and if stable then hopefully the next step is some shrinkage.

    Wishing you the best,
    Betsy

I agree totally with Betsy. I had a conversation with my onc about this...she says the most frustrating thing about insurance is that if the first line doesn't work completely, they start balking on the rest. She has personally seen results on the 5th line....

But stablization is good! AND a victory over the beast! Naked happy dance for hubby!!!!

My father has been on FOLFIRI + avastin for 13 months now. Some shrinkage finally after 8 months....since then stable liver mets.
So far doctors have not changed his chemo.

Hi.my husband had 6 mos on folfiri and avastin with stable/variable response(somwe growth) then switched to xelox and oxaliplatin and after 3 mos has had significant reduction in both the number and size of mets...keep trying differnt combinations until they find the one that works for your husband..
Let us know how everything works out.
