I posted a week ago about where to turn for screening help given my age no one would give me the time of day......thanks for all your comments and suggestions. Well, i called our local teaching hospital once again and basically i lied........i told them i was having symptoms and they made me an appointment to see a doc and hopefully from there he will give me an appointment for a colonoscopy seeing that my great grandmother, garndmother had it and my mom died from it at the age of 46. i feel bad for lying but it was the only way to get heard amd sometimes you do what ya gotta do! My life is more important! so cross your fingers for me!

Go ahead and lie if that is what is needed to get the right testing. Perhaps having thought you saw some blood would help. The doctor may not care but may need to have some reason to give to whoever approves the procedure

I love it!!!!!!!!!! I so wish I would have known to be more demanding 5-10 years ago and I wouldn't be where I am today.

you are definitely at risk, and there should not be any question about your eligibility for screening-any other response but yes should result in a law suit. I also would be cancer free if I had been given the correct information when I asked my doctor for a colonoscopy-they told me it wasn't necessary when in fact I had crc at the time which wasn't discovered until a year later during a routine physical exam. A girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do... If our medical system/insurance system wasn't so fundamentally flawed in this country you wouldn't have had to have "embellished" as you say you did. We could learn a thing or two from our neighbors to the north.

Good on yah!I have a friend here who needs a colonoscopy too. He is 45 and his dad died from bowel cancer years ago when testing was not so available. I plead with him to see his doc. about having a scope....maybe I oughta break his arm! And here in oz the cost is minimal. If I were in your position I would have lied too!
    Best of luck...Ross n Jen

You little sneak! I'm with you all the way! LOL!!! OK, so when is the scope? Tell the doc you want the colonoscopy, in case they try to steer you to a sigmoidoscopy (colonoscopy does the entire colon)!

Oh, and if you tell them you have bleeding they'll do a Fecal Blood test, but just cuz nothing shows up does not mean you don't have cancer.... Women especially turn up negative on the Fecal blood test (I know I did). Stick with diahrrea, cramping and a modest weight loss "for no reason." That should get you in!

    Good luck!

Ha thanks patrusha! my appointment is Sept 8th and God willing he will set me up for a colonoscopy! I did take an at home fecal test which was negative but it gave no sense of security at all!
