I know this site is for survivor spirit, but my husband had III stage cc in 2001...IV stage recurrence in 2005 with mets to liver, and prostate cancer...in treatment since 9/2005, the tumors continue to grow...he is either vomitting, diarrhea, sometimes at same time..lost strength to walk, is in a wheelchair and can go from bed to chair with assistance, has not had a real meal in 6 months, is unable to socialize...he has discontinued treatment and sees no hope for getting any quality of life..he desires to end his life now, not prolong the inevitable...I don't want him to suffer anymore either...it is so painful to watch your love of 43 years waste away slowly...

HI I know exactly how you feel. My dad has give up to. He has stage 4 with mets to lungs and his lung filled with fluid two months ago and since he has been home from the hospital he has not gotten of the couch only to go the bathroom. he only ate the minimum amount of food. Now 2 1/2 months later he is to weak to get off the couch and he only eats about once a day in the morning. I believe he would not be in this condition if he got off the couch more often and ate more. The Hospice nurse says its the disease kicking in. But he pretty much gave up when he got out of the hospital and thats when I saw him quickly deterioate. My mother is his sole caretaker and having a hard time. We visit once a week because we are all two hours away from them and work. I hope your husband doesnt have to suffer and God takes him peacefully. If you want to email me please feel free to do so. My heart goes out to you. I can hear the pain in your words. Try to take one day at a time and do what you can to help your husband. Don't forget to take care of yourself too. Reach out for help from others in the community, especially a hospice program. You may be amazed by their support and helpful advice. I will pray for you and your husband.

My husband had Stg IV colonrectal cancer he died 4-15-06 with me holding him.The last two months of his life had no quality, he wore adult diapers could not eat was on TPN but the doctors did surgery anyway to Help with Quality of Life. Personal I think they wanted to see what would happen He did not come home. I would have rather had him at home in our bed laying next to him when he died than in a cold hospital with only my arms around him. I am so sorry for what you are going through I've been there but I'm selfish I wish I was there again so I could touch him and tell him how much I so Love him and kiss him. Good Luck Candice
