its been a while since i i posted and i just wanted to thank all of you who responded to my last post. sorry it took so long but i guess i have been trying to get use to this whole colostomy idea. i think its sinking in and i thank all of you who have responded with your strong and kind words. well 10 days left and i will let you all know how it goes.

    So, your surgery is on June 30? Am I close??? Please let us know...

    I didn't see your original message. I had an APR with a permanent colostomy two months ago. It is quite easy to take care of. The first stoma bags you get are clear plastic and it seems depressing to think of having that. Get the opaque bags as soon as you can. I also found that the wide outlet bags with the velcro work nicely as well (Coloplast makes them) but it may be different for a female. Having a good ostomy nurse is the best help.
