One Year Survivor..... YAHHHHHHH
I will tell you that I look at life differently now. I am planning that trip to Europe that I always wanted to do... but never had the time....
I have finished my Chemo, radiation, surgery, had to stop my 1 year of Herceptin at about 1/2 way through... (I couldn't take it due to it being toxic to my heart..Just gave up on it this Friday..the Echo results just won't support continuing the treatments... so from now on I am going to do something a lot more fun on Friday afternoons rather getting treatment).
I am just taking Arimedex.... My life is getting back to normal.... and I intend to enjoy it.

What started as a 'little' volunteer work for the ACS has blossomed....my colon has been invited to all sorts of stuff...and, of course, I need to go alone to chaperone!!!! (My colon can get pretty WILD at times, left alone....hehehehe).LesleyH said:What are you going to do with all that free time?

My 51st birthday is July 29....the FIRST 50 years were REALLY HARD WORK...the NEXT 50....I'm gonna PLAY!!!!

I was really only joking, but that sounds wonderful! I'm so glad you are able to share your experience. I just got another rejection letter today. A year ago, I had potential employers calling me. Now, half the time they don't even acknowledge my application. At least if you work with cancer survivors you don't have to explain your absence for a year. And you are just a little older than me. I was just so glad to make 50. Other women talk about how terrible it felt. To me, it was joyous! I actually made it. Shall we make a pact to be here for each other for at least the next 50 years?

that's sooo great susan!! yeah for you!! i finished my treatments 1 1/2 yrs ago. go out and CELEBRATE!!
i also turn 51 this year (in Oct) and i will be celebrating my 1st wedding anniversary in Oct as well and boy, do i plan on doing just that after my mammo, which will be the end of sept (yikes). God bless, :-) kat0 -

I'm right behind you (June 1st for me.) And I will turn 52 June 12th. Congrats and Happy Memorial Day.
Our Memories of the last year haven't been the easiest to deal with, but YES, we deserve to Celebrate Life. And also Celebrate the Memories of our brave soldiers.

P.S. I'm sorry about the letters...have you considered free lancing? I think I have shared that I have been self-employed for 15 years. It takes the pressure off an 'employer' (now client) because they see (if they don't explain it to them) that you are NOT under their health plan, NOT under their retirement, etc....it worked beautifully for me...0 -
Congrats Susan! The first year is a hard one...But you won! I will hand NED over to you for the first dance then you get to share him-okay? (NED is no evidence of disease-our favorite dance partner!)

Thanks to all of you. It always helps to know that there are many other successful travelers on this trip... I will be 50 this August... and yes I too think that it will be wonderful to make it to be 50.... No black ballons for me.... Guess that C word puts all kinds of things in perspective.... wrinkles don't even look so bad... Just proof that we won the battle...
