JADot, can you please tell me more about the extract and where I may be able to buy this? My friend is facing an aggressive chemo regimen and I think he could benefit from this. Thanks!
Kathryn

    Kathryn,

My Dad has been taking Maitake d-fraction since shortly after his diagnosis. It is the only supplement that was ever recommended to us by an oncologist and it was the one we saw at Sloan-Kettering. It helps the immune system and I believe, helps prevent the formation of new blood vessels for the cancer to grow on.

    Hope this helps.

    Best Wishes,
    Deneen

    Hi Kathryn,

Not sure where you live but around here in PA, Whole Foods carries the extracts. You might want to see if you have a health store in your area or a drug store that carries homeopathic remedies. Good Luck and I'm sure JaDot will answer too. Take care!

    Hi again,
I would really strongly recommend that you and Mark go to an N.D. who deals with cancer patients. I don't know where you live, but to excellent ones in Seattle are NW Natural Health Clinic and Rainbow Natural Remedies. If he is going to be on chemo and taking supplements it is important to be under the guidance of a professional IMO. Also, it would be good for the oncologist and the N.D. to be on the same page. Maybe his oncologist is open minded enough to recommend someone. Otherwise just make sure whomever you go to has experience dealing with chemo patients.
Good luck to you both! I have taken Miataake also but only after I got done w/ my chemo. There are so many things out there that are beneficial and can help w/ side effects of chemo it is really best to consult someone who is trained.
    Take care,
    Susan.

    Hi Kathryn:

You can get a load more information on the extract itself at http://www.sunrecome.com/.

You can buy it from a place in Southern CA at http://www.alternative2cancer.com/buynow.shtm.

There is a name brand version - the SunRecome - which is really pricey (~$4,000 for 6 months at full twice-a-day dosage). There is also a generic version supposedly made by the same guy who invented the process, which sells at a quarter of the price. The rep told me that all the Chinese only trust the name brand but all the Americans seem to prefer the generic verison which he said works fine.

This stuff has done wonders for me and I strongly endorse it! Please please read the testimonials on the web site from the maker.

Good luck to you and Mark!

    Cheers,
    Ying

Thanks to all for the replies. I am in Los Angeles and will check into a ND. If anyone knows of someone, please let me know. shmurciakova has me a good point regarding mixing anything with the chemo (I learned you can't mix radiation and carrot juice). The oncologist is your regular Western Medicine type guy and I'd be amazed if he would know anything about natural healing things but I will ask. Plus Mark is going to be on a trial. I don't know if it will be safe or even allowed - trials are strict about doing anything else while you're on the drugs. All the reason to find an ND in the area to help out with this. Thanks loads for the info! Kathryn
