I do admit I do not often write. But I do read the posts. Brief hx.Ca/colon labeled as aggressive, advanced mucinous adenocarcinoma stage 4 with 8/20 lymph nodes postive. Started in the cecum went across the pelvis and attached itself on to the sigmoid. Was left with an illeostomy on the right side, part of the transverse colon and descending colon currently disconnected awaiting for a re-connection. This all happened in Aug.2003. When I look back I can't believe I made it this far. I could not have done it without the support and the education fron this network. My petscan on Jan.9th, 2006 the words per my Dr. were "ALL CLEAR". The most wonderful news. However I do have this on-going blood problem since June 2004. I have been seeing a specialist at Mount Sinai Medical Center in N.Y.city who is leaning on the dx. of myeloid dysplasia which is a bone marrow disorder. Currently there is no cure for this. This might have come from the radiation to the pelvic area. I have to be transfused every 5 or 6 weeks down from 8 weeks. So here I go again. taking the good news with the bad news. I still continue to work full time and do what I have to do. I have met the most interesting people on this network. I have another road to walk. But it is not that bad so far.

I am sorry about your blood condition and you are clearly facing challenges with that. I wish you all the best with that battle. But, hearty congratulations on the "all clear" results as far as the colon cancer goes. That is wonderful news!! Yea, you!!! Hope you find an appropriate way to celebrate this terrific news -- and thanks for sharing with us. You lifted my day.

    Fran,
I am so glad to hear about your Pet scan being NED.. thats wonderful news!! I am having a pet scan in May, and I am hoping for the same good news that you received. Just got my blood work back the other day, and my CEA and CA125 were all normal. You truly are an ispiration to me, since our cases are so similar. Good luck and may God continue to Bless you.

Great news on the clear Pet scan! Thanks for sharing. Good luck with the myelodysplasia. I think there might be some newer drugs for it...ask your doc.

Hi Fran.now don't go apologising for only writing occassionally. Trying to juggle work, appt's, and treatment are the best excuses you can give us...you come first!Congrats on the clear scans and we both hope that trend continues for you.
Dear Fran...I would suggest that many here have other issues relating to treatment that have reared their heads...such a bummer of a thing battling so hard to find that many drugs/treatments leave us with these other issues. Hold your head high babe...you have done some hard miles...Jen and I hope that the road gets easier for you.
