Hello friends!!!
I saw one of my oncos today and he made a comment about my recurrence that has been bothering me. I need some info...have any of you had mets to the pelvis/pervic region? My cancer had mets to the ovaries, tubes, and uterus. I had a positive wash. I have 2 very small tumors (.5 cm) and a large one (2,9) that have recurred after one year of being off chemo..My operation was Feb. 04. My doc said the biggest of the 3 was inoperable. Is this typical? I will start the FOLFIRI with Avistin this coming Tuesday. Have any of you had pelvic tumors removed by other means? This whole thing scares the heck out of me. I thank God I can talk to people on this board. I want to live, therefore I will fight this beast!!! Bless you all!!! Terri

    Hi Terri:
My husband is on Folfiri and avastin and just had his 5th treatment..so far he isn't having too many problems...so good luck...
AS far as pelvic mets- it is odd but his initial CT showed pelvic "thickening" then he had another cat before going into his current treatment and there was no mention of any problems in the pelvic region- from what I understand that area can show false positives due to surgical adhesions from resections...
Hope everything goes well for you.

Thaanks, Bev. It it good to hear that your husband is doing well on this regiment. My problem is this...I had a biopsy of the area. They were positive for recurrent meta. colon cancer as the path report read. We initially thought it was scar tissue until my doc went in and checked. I was having a hernia repaired and he decided to check on these spots. Thank God for the hernia repair!!!! Bev, my prayers for your husband as well as you!!! Terri

I also had mets to the pelvic area that were surgically removed. One met was found on my original colon surgery 5/04. In 3/05, I had a hysterectomy because it was found that I had precancerous breast lesions. I was also getting a liver resection for two liver tumors and they figured that it made sense to do both at the same time. Unexpectedly, the found out that what they were calling an ovarian cyst, was actually a met outside the ovary.

Since then, I have had more mets to my liver. Also, I have visible nodes in my peritoneum in my abdomen.

I wanted to share my story to let you know that you are not the only one with mets in your pelvis. I feel the same way, I want to live and I am willing to do whatever it takes. Hang in!
