Battle Lost

My friend lost her battle with cancer today. She was one of the sweetest people I have ever known and didn't deserve all the pain she has had to withstand during her two year struggle. She was diagnosed with breast cancer just 6 weeks before I got my diagnosis so we did a lot of comparing notes. Her cancer metastisized and she continued to fight this terrible disease. She is now at peace and not in pain anymore. God received her into HIS loving arms today. I am not sure how I feel and I just wonder why her and not me. Guess that can't be answered.

Nothing I say will take away the hurt but you said something very important, she's in the Lord's hand and she's no longer in pain. We don't understand God's plan but just trust in the Lord. You're in my prayers. -- Mary

I'm so sorry for your loss of your friend and my heart goes out to you.

When we lose a friend to the same disease we have experienced, it can serve to heighten our own fears, and we may find ourselves thinking, "that could have been me...why did hers come back and mine hasn't". All normal thoughts, I think. I've had them myself.

You are right though, there are no answers to why. Why me? Why her? Why any of us really. Science cannot unravel the mystery on a scientific basis and we can't seem to unravel it on a mystical/religious, practical or logical basis. It is just another of life's mysteries as to why some of us get something while others don't and a very painful thing to deal with when someone dies from it.

I am sure that in the months to come you will draw strength and inspiration from your friends battle, as you remember her, as well as how she chose to live her life and fight her disease. That is a testament to her strength and example. I believe this is something we can all hope for: that when we're gone, our lives, who we were and what we were about will continue to serve someone, on some level, which is positive and good.

Hope my thoughts may be helpful to you in some fashion although I know they cannot help your pain of loss right now. Again, I'm so sorry for your loss.

    Love, light and laughter,

    Dear Mosis,

It seems so unfair to lose someone to this disease-everytime I hear of losing someone to cancer I get this empty feeling inside, doesn't matter if I knew them or not.I know Your feelings haven't hit yet,it's a hard pill to swallow. It is so strange to me that most of us didn't have any pain or anything when we were diagnosed-I had a lump in my right breast-got checked - the cancer was in my left breast-very aggressive-if divine intervention hadn't happened I would not be here today-I guess my work here is not done.Your friend went home , her purpose was fulfilled, there was a purpose that Your paths crossed-I know You'll miss her terribly-she's in a better place watching over You. Take comfort in Your faith and cherish time spent with her.
I will keep You in my prayers and remember our purpose is yet to be.God Bless You!
    ((hugs))

I will pray that your friend will be receive by our Lord with open arms which I know she will be, and I will also keep you in my prayers. I am still sorry to hear about your friend but yes she is now at peace and no more pain.
