Has anyone taken xeloda by itself. If so how long did your onc have you on it. What was your experience.

thank you

First of all I had sticker shock at the pharmacy as a 10 day supply was $1,400. That was 3 years ago and it may be cheaper now.
The other problem was I had the hand and foot syndrome I believe it was called. Result was the bottom of my feet blistered so bad after the second cycle of treatment that I had a hard time walking for a month.
Other than that it is supposed to be a great drug...and in all fairness, few people have the hand/foot syndrome. Leave it to me as I typically suffer foot in mouth disease anyway. :)

We are in the wrong business. I wish I had stocks in the drug company. Unbelievable and I thought the Femera was expensive @ 236.00 for 30 pill!!

I guess I thought when I heard someone or read something about foot and hand syndrome, it was like a restless feeling. So that is why someone said to put cream on your feet and hands. It sounds like if it gets too bad, nothing helps.
So did you have your treatment dosage lowered or did they have to take you off the drug.

The first thing I did was call my onc and tell him he didn't have to worry about curing my cancer, cause I was going to have a stroke over the cost of the zeloda. LOL
The next to the last day of the second cycle I stopped the meds. About 6-8 weeks later as feet cleared up he suggested I try it again. I took 2 days (the 2 I had left) and by end of second day my tongue was getting so sore, I was afraid it was about to blister. Ergo, I stopped zeloda and have no interest in trying it again....and ya-as! pharm stock would probably be a good idea. LOL
