Hello everyone,
Okay, I know, I should go to the doctor. I will. I have an appointment with my oncologist and hematologist in the middle of June. But I have this thing on me head. I can't see it. But I feel it, my hand gravitates to it automatically. It started out as what I thought was a scab. I plucked it off. It kept and keeps coming back. It's gettin bigger. But from what I can tell, it's nothing. It's just an area that crusts over. (And over and over) Has anyone else had this? I'm finally getting to the point where I don't have to go to the doctor ALL the time. I don't want to go for something that seems so silly. (Heavy sigh) I know, you'd think I'd learn. I've had cancer once. I know that you can have it and not KNOW that something is wrong. Somebody out there say, "Don't worry. I've had the same thing. It's just dandruff in one small part of your head." By the way, it does not itch.

Thanks for any help.

Sorry, Cindy...my advice is call your primary doc, and ask for a referral to a dermatologist. It may be nothing serious, or it may be one of those early, very common skin cancers that just needs to be removed. Won't know until it's checked.....if you're up at 1:30 worrying, get it done at least so you can get some sleep! Judy

    Good advice.
I finally made it to bed at 3:30. I'm just so scared. If they remove this patch of scalp I'll have a hole in my head.
But I will make an appointment on Monday. (Sigh)
But you told me what I needed to hear.
    Thanks again Judy.

    Hi.
I can't get to the page. It will not display. I can get to heartspring.net and I'll try to find it from there, but here's the thing. I can't see it. It is on the top-back of my head and even with creative mirror tricks I just can't see it. I will try to have someone else look. It's complicated. My husband, well, I would just rather not keep bugging him about it. I can't scare my kids. I'm sorry. I'm making excuses. I just have to make an appointment with a dermatologist. I just wish that I could see it. It's probably nothing. I'm going to play around on heartspring and see if I can find it.
    Thanks!

I don't think you should worry about it too much until you see the doctor. I kinda remember having something like that on my head which I used to pick at. I think it went away when I lost my hair though! I haven't though about it in a long time. It's gone now.
It is probably something benign. I have this tiny little thing on my lip, which came about after chemo. It is like a little bitty scab which forms and falls off. I tried to have it burnt off once, but it came back. The dermatologist said it's overactive blood vessels, and benign of course.
If they remove it you won't have a hole! Just another scab! Anyway, good luck w/ it. Try not to worry till you know what it is - probably nothing.

Thank you. I've been making myself crazy. I don't know why, I've had it for a long time, but now all of a sudden it's all I think about and since it's a weekend I can't make an appointment with a dermatalogist. I had my kids look at it today. One said ew gross! The other (he's 5) said, "it looks like an earthworm is coming out of your head." Hee hee hee. But I bet it's just one of those things.

    Thanks for the encouragement!

Well, if it is any consolation, I have a friend who is a breast cancer survivor. She is 6 years out now, I think and she told me every time anything goes wrong w/ her she worries that it might be cancer. So, I think it is perfectly normal. Good luck at the dermatologist!
