I walked out of Oklahoma City, VA Hospital 1 hour and a half before surgery. The reason was for three reasons. They wanted to remove all of my esophagus. I'm married and the hospital was 140 miles from my home town. My wife, son and rest of family couldn't be there to see Me while I was going to be in there for at least 10 days. I also wanted a second opinion. I have stage 2a scan and cancer is local to just tumor and hasn't spread anywhere else by CT Scan. I see a doctor tomorrow here in my home in Texas. We have a great hospital here so I at least feel better about my sugery and Am getting a second opinion. Maybe I can keep part of my esophagus after I get second opinion. Also I wanted to eat a steak dinner and remember how it felt to eat with my old esophagus. Plus I wanted to go to church first and have them to anoint me in oil and pray for Me to get healed in the Name of Jesus Christ My Savior. Then, I will have surgery.Any comments, remarks, suggestions on anything including diet please write Me.I need prayer and I will pray for anyone. Bobby in Texas

Bobby: Greetings> I am a 5+ year survivor of stage III EC. You probably did the right thing in getting out of the VA hospital. There are many great medical facilities in Texas for treating EC. Those who do the best have a great attitude and excellent medical team. I suggest that you check out MD Anderson Medical Center. Also, check out Cathy's EC Cafe at "www.eccafe.org" and click on the EC group link. There is a group of over 1200 EC patients and caregivers. They have lots of experience and there are many in Texas. Good luck and don't hesitate to contact me at "mtnlivin@sti.net". Best wishes, Bruce
