i have breast cancer that has metastasized into my liver, and just wanted to know if there is anyone else out there with the same thing. i was not "supposed" to survive even 3 months into my treatments, and am now in my 7th month, and am 75% in remission.

When I found out about the mets, they were already in spine, liver and lungs. Currently taking herceptin weekly for the HER2 3+ amd had second treatment this week of navelbine also weekly plus zometa for bones and procrit for boosting red blood cells. No point in talking about survival time - it is too individualized. As you already have seen, the original prognosis missed the mark. How did they find the liver mets - thru blood tests? Mine were only found because after bone scan, other tests were done - liver blood tests at the time were ok.

    Good luck with your treatments.

No fun mets to the liver. I have been around now for 3 and 1/2 years with mets to the liver. Hummer is correct, only the big guy upstairs knows when we are coming home. It varys for everyone. Feel free to email me if I can be of any assitance. I do encourage you to be proactive in your care. Make yourself as aware as possible to the drugs that are available to deal with the disease. Jean mentioned the Navelbine, it worked great for me got quite a few months out of it and then switched to Gemzar, Gemcitabine, also got a number of months from the Gemzar as well. Also, Zeloda worked for at least 6 months. I am also trying to take Milk Thistle on a regular basis to help support my liver function. Best Wishes to you Lisa

How are liver mets found? I am in the process of doing CT scans every 3 mo. and from the previous postings, it sounded like liver mets are hard to find? Is this true and what should one look for?

    Thanks!

thank you all for replying. i have realized that no ones time is determined by doctors, it is all up to our higher powers. i do however believe that attitude has a LOT to do with it. i for one, have a great attitude, i feel great all the time, no sickness, not tired, i still am working, but have cut one day out, and am only doing 4 days a week. i wake up everyday thankful that i have another day to make the fullest of.

Excellent attitude! I agree with you 100% I had to have surgery, chemo and radiation,
but it's my faith in God that has kept me here.

Hi, I have breast cancer that has metastasized to liver and bones. What treatment are you on? I just got back from Dr. Burzynski's clinic in Texas and am also on Lupron and chemo. Did you have radio ablation on your liver? Would love to talk more with you.

CT scans missed much of my metastasized cancer (liver and bones) you need to get a pet scan, much more detailed and accurate. My liver panel always came back normal through blood testing. But I had a 3 cm. tumor!
