Have you taken radiation, are you taking radiation?
Did anyone tell you niacin, aspirin, and breathing oxygen (through a face mask) would improve the radiation killing of solid tumors.
That supplementing your diet with vitamin C, E,
beta carotene, selenium, gamma linoleic acid and CoQ10 SIGNIFICANTLY improves the survival rate and quality of life in BREAST cancer patients. These supplements also decrease the side effects such as weight loss, fatigue (which can last up to one year after radiation), skin damage...AND...reduces the chances of metastases!
HELLO? Did I miss Radiation 101? Did everyone else, did anyone else get any of this information? Not just, 'yeah supplements are good for you' I'm wondering did anybody sit down and say, "Niacin, vitamin C and CoQ10 help radiation kill the tumor. Oxygen does too, so you will be wearing an oxygen mask 5 minutes prior to and during radiation."
Just curious as to what information is generally available to all.
If interested in this info go to 'Cancer Updates'
and look up 'Nutrition and Radiotherapy' I haven't looked into the references yet. I did ask my RadTech about niacin and O2 today and she said, 'oh yeah, they both act as RBE's'. That is to say there is a relative biological effect seen
with certain nutrients and with use of oxygen that improves the effectiveness of radiation, while decreasing the negative side effects at the same time!
Glad to know this now, but you know I could have used the information 2 years ago.
By the grace of God I'm here to pass along the information. Hope it helps someone. Must say before you change your diet or add supplements check with your physician first. God bless. hummingbyrd

Dear Hummingbyrd, I found out about COQ10 about seven months ago, when I went to a natural health person ,to find a more natural way of dealing with my cancer, even though I was clear of it after surgery . I found that COQ10 , is a natural form of tamoxifin, and is a
(CURE ALL) FOR ALOT OF PROBLEMS , but is NOT looked at by doctors. The two reasons I started to take it was #1 the cancer, #2 my heart, I have mitro value prolaps, and my other health problems that run in my family. Since I started taking this, I tell people about it , and surprizing enough there are alot of people that already knew about it. I guess if we were more into natural health, we would have been on top of it sooner. Natural med's are not excepted by the doctors, and they need to research it better, to inform there people, of alternative treatment.
Take care ,and good luck with everything, I hope it works well for you. Lots of love JAN

    Hi Jan:

    Thanks for posting re CoQ10.

More doctors are now aware of the benefits of CoQ10 and do support their patients taking it.
    (not during chemotherapy, however)

It is also one of the few "natural" approaches which the NCI condones. If you go to: www.nci.nih.gov and go to alternative/complementary treatments, you'll find some great info there..from studies, etc.. According to their info, CoQ10 has proven to be particularly beneficial for those with breast cancer. GOOD STUFF TO KNOW.

    Love, light and laughter,
