Hi all,

I am sorry I dropped off the map for awhile. I had surgery to remove my ovaries about one month ago. The recovery time was a little bit longer than I anticipated, but I am feeling great. I am so glad I made the decision I did. I feel more energized and healthy without my ovaries than I did with them. I actually lost some weight and my sex drive is alive and kicking. The only symptom I am having is very mild hot flashes that occur around 10pm...and as twisted as it may sound, I like the hot flashes because I associate being hot and sweaty with very positive experiences in my life. When I don't have them, I miss them. Yes, I am a strange girl. I will follow up with a separate post about my experience with removal of my ovaries verses chemical interventions. I am so happy with the results. I just started back on the Arimidex. The only side effect I'm experiencing is being a bit tired. I stand 100% behind ovarian ablation as an option for women with Estogen Receptive cancer. I am really happy with the decision I made, and am relieved that I will not have to deal with the side effects of medications that would have chemically stopped my ovaries from producing estrogen.

Good for you Stephanie! Glad to see you back and doing sooooo well.
I can tell you are happy, excited even, about your decision! You go girl, YEE-HAA! Congratulations on the successfull surgery, I had a hysterectomy 2 years ago and couldn't agree more. I think it was one of the best things I ever did, surgically speaking!
    Welcome back, (((HUGS))) hummingbyrd.

    Stephanie,

Welcome back! I'm so glad you are happy with your surgery results. I thought you might be. You're right in that each of us has to make her own decisions, but I recommend ovarian ablation too. My health is so much better after my surgery. Oh, since I haven't heard from you - I have great news! My latest CT scan showed the tumors shrinking! For me at least, the BC vaccine is having a positive effect. I can live with the side effects as long as the cancer is being hammered!!

Again, welcome back and keep in touch.

    God Bless,
    Kathy
