Soreness for so long?

Hi everyone. Here's my complaint for the day: I am 5 weeks out of radiation. I still am having soreness and pinching sensations in my breast. The radiation angried up the surgery sites (lumpectomy and axilla -- 21 nodes removed) and I am concerned about the continuation of sensation (sometimes it really hurts!). My skin has healed, but these feelings are inside the breast. I am not wearing a bra yet, and at first I thought that might contribute to the soreness. But my other breast is fine, so that's not it. My doctors say I am doing great, the surgeries have healed well. They did say I should expect 6 to 8 weeks to recover from the radiation. I just wonder if anyone else has had a problem with the sensation and soreness and should I just relax, work through it and take a little more time for myself. Sounds like good advice for any day or situation, eh?

The possibility that I might look forward to a day 5 weeks out of radiation when my doctors tell me that I am doing great seems like a mirage on the distant horizon. According to the timetable they gave you, you should see improvement within 3 weeks. Hope you notice improvement very soon.

Hi, I've finished radiation in November and it took me a good 3-4 month for the soreness to subside. Even now, occasionally I get little pains. It is normal, they told me

Thanks for the vote of confidence. It seems now that any little twinge or odd feeling gets me in a small panic. I keep telling myself that I have been through a LOT and that I need to afford myself some personal compassion. Every day in every way I am getting better better better. Hugs to all!

    Hi!
During my radiation, I got blisters from the radiation and treated it with prscription cream(silverdeen). It healed within a week after my radiation. I never got any soreness but there seems to be a lot more stiffness and swelling in that area of radiation. Yoga has helped me tremendously to stretch my muscles.
    Hope you feel better soon,
