also having a bad day

I am new to this site and have been reading some of the messages. I was diagnosed with DCIS in December. My surgeon had me see a radiation oncologist, an oncologist and a plastic surgeon so I could weigh my options. On Feb 10th I had a skin saving mastectomy with a tram flap( no lymph node biopsy was recommended). everything seems to be healing well. I went back to see the oncologist because he recommended Tamoxifen. The oncologist voiced concerns about the pathology report(wasn't sure about the margins)and referred me back to the radiation oncologist. The radiation oncologist felt there was no need for radiation. So I started the Tamoxifen with very little information provided for me by my oncologist. All the info I have found had been on my own. Then on my next visit to my plastic surgeon he asked if I was going to start chemo. All this has left me in a quandry. I have been having mood swings, severe anxiety, crying spills, and loss of appetite. I thought I had been coping so well with everything. I know some of these feelings are normal but any suggestions on dealing with them

    Hello. I am probably not the right one to give you advice since I am the one having the bad day. BUT, most days work for me. I read everything I can about BC. I have a very strong faith and a great support system. I am not very good at using my support system but I do know they are there for me when I need them. I will pray for you. I hope that will make you feel some better. Just keep reading and learning all you can. This site is a great way to vent your feelings and get your questions answered. Keep writing. That is good therapy, too. My prayers are with you!!!! Mosis50

    Hi, sometimes we are our best advocates for health care. My mom had DCIS with mastectomy and tram flap reconstruction. No radiation or chemo. Now she has a recurrence. She went from stage 0 to stage 2. She is wishing she had radiation and chemo initially...but hindsight is always 20-20. She was not given the option of anything other than mastectomy with or without reconstruction. I was very fortunate in that my doctor gave me several options and kept me very well informed. Plus there is an excellent breast care department at my hospital. I would really encourage to get in touch with the American Cancer Society and get all the info you can. Plus this site is wonderful. There are so many ladies willing to share what they know. It's like a personal research group!!! Keep us posted. I'll be praying for you.

    Question about your mother. Does her recurrance involve the original sight? I had a tram flap and part of the recurrance was around the original sight. I've wondered if this had happened to anyone else.
