Radiation treatment

I have just completed chemo and am about to start radiation treatment but the center seems to be having a difficult time getting their bearings on just how to set the machine to treat the area of the tumor without effecting too many other areas. My tumor was on the lower, inner edge of my breast so the incision actually crosses midline of my chest. They don't seem to be able to decide how to best setup the machine. The initial markings were done last Wednesday and they still aren't ready. Any thoughts????? Thank you.

    Hi there,
I had a 2.2 cm tumor in the exact same place. I did the chemo and now doing rads and they had the same problem with me. My rad onc is a good friend of mine and he said with the tumor in that location they have lots of decisions to make as far as whether they radiate more of the lung or some of the other breast. He said they weigh the pros and cons and make the best decision for your paticular case. It did take about a week longer to decide and make the blocks. I am now almost done and it was harmless. After the AC it was a total breeze. Now I have to go back for taxol. Good luck to you and I hope this helped if you have any more questions feel free to email me at nocarb1@yahoo.com
