I have been reading some of the messages on this site, and have really enjoyed them. I had a bilateral mastectomy in September, followed by 4 A/C and 4 Taxol. I had my first reconstruction in April, and another one in June. I have been taking tamoxifen since April. I would like to start taking vitamins, minerals or some other supplements. Does anyone taking vitamins while taking the tamoxifen? My energy level still does not seem normal. I have gained 20 pounds over this whole process. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks - Cindy

Just wanted you to know we read the postings and often are full of experiences. I am so glad I came after being a survivor for the past 3 years. I have finally found a place to share all I feel, something I needed when I was going through it all. You will always be close to our hearts,

    Welcome Cindy:
I am a firm believer in supplements. The chemo made me sick but my blood counts stayed reasonable all the way, and I believe it was due to the fact I was taking several vitamins and herbs. I am still on Herceptin and Aredia plus the Tamoxifen, and my last dose of chemo was in December. My energy level is higher than it has been in years!! I can't say these will work for you, but I take: at least 1500 mg. Vitamin C per day--usually more; Vitamin B complex (helps blood count and energy); Vitamins E, and A at normal doses; Lutien for my eyes(chemo problem- dried them out); coenzyme Q10; E-Tea (from Herb Shop)and green tea in extract form (don't care for the taste of the tea). I should rattle when I walk after taking so many pills!!! I divide them out at different times of the day. Weight gain comes sometimes because our energy level doesn't keep us exercising like we should. The vitamins keep me much more active. I haven't lost many pounds but can tell I am firming up some of the flab!!. Good luck to you. May God bless you and keep you strong.
    Hugs from Brenda (GA.)
