Salvage update
well, they said surgery went extremely well a little under three hours. They actually were able to spare the nerves. Will go home tomorrow. I already did some walking and now dinner is coming. Thanks for all the support. I will be in touch.

Psa test freq following RT
I just finished post-RP salvage RT in January. My first PSA was about 3 weeks ago at 0.13 vs. 0.20 when RT was started. Post RP pathology rated me at a 3+4 Gleason with a few mm of positive margin and some perineural invasion. They have me scheduled for next psa in 6 months on basis that post RT the PSA should move real…

Focal Cryo Therapy for initial treatment
After months of indecision, I just sent a note to my doctor at Fox Chase to ask him to schedule me for focal cryotherapy procedure. So far, it seems for primary treatments of Pca, focal treatments are typically only applicable to some men who qualify with in-gland non metastasized low to intermediate grade cancer. The…

What to expect with no treatment
Hi all. I have a biopsy coming up but, unlike most, I'm not interested in finding out what kind of treatment I may qualify for (frankly, they all sound absolutely terrible) but, rather, how much time I have left. All my friends have already passed on so it's pretty much just me alone at this point so no real desire to put…

Stage 4 confusion about treatment/results
I am a little confused about treatment and what they can and can't do. Starting out it was made clear Stage 4 Prostate Cancer is not curable, but I could live for some number of years with it depending on how I respond to treatment. I accepted that but the more I learn the less I understand. My chemo if successful is…

I'm sure most or all of you have learned of OJ Simpson's passing yesterday. What you may not know is that the cancer that took him was PCa.

Post-Radical Prostatectomy Pathology Results
I'm 4 weeks out from a radical prostatectomy and just received my post-surgery pathology report and it's indicating that cancer's a bit more advanced than pre-op biopsy/pathology/scans/etc. indicated. What I'm wondering is if anyone has experienced a similar situation and if further treatment was required. I'm having to…

All personal opinions about the man aside, do we know his PSA at diagnosis? Is there any other relevant information?

Incontinence, Pads & Underwear
Hi, I had a radical prostatectomy about 3 weeks ago. I'm leaking some urine when I cough, sneeze and sometimes with standing up. Not major. I'm currently using Depend Incontinence Guards (diapers) with a pad. What I'm wondering is if anyone has suggestions for regular underwear that works well with pads. I've always worn…

Cribriform Pattern 4
I've recently been diagnosed with Stage 2 Prostate cancer (Gleason 3+4= 7) with evidence of Cribriform pattern 4 (5% & 10%) in 5 areas of my prostate. I had twenty core samples taken in my biopsy and there is no evidence of intraductal carcinoma. My urologist strongly recommends radiation treatment and feels confident that…

Looking for success stories
Unfortunately, like most discussion boards, I find the majority of posts here are about the problems we are all having and about looking for answers to resolve those problems. It's perfectly natural. We are all looking for answers, myself included. Once people feel their problems have been solved, they stop coming to the…

Two year Hormone treatment
Do most high risk stage 3, Gleason 9 prostate cancer patients start long term hormone theropy right after radiation treatments?

robotic surgery for prostate cancer
I had the robotic laparoscopic removal of my prostate in 2010 and it went fantastic. I was 58 years old and some doctors had recommended radiation but on a second opinion, they said I was too young for radiation when I was done everything worked. No ED no incontinence. No bowel problems 10 years later, it has come back a…

Decision Process re: radiation Type
Having just received a diagnosis of prostate cancer, my urologist indicated that radiation is his recommended approach and I'm scheduled to meet with radiation oncologist shortly. I'm stage 2, with evidence of Cribriform pattern 4 so active surveillance is not an option. Recognizing that everyone is different and…

prostate cancer recurrence
10 years after prostatectomy the psa has gone from 0 to 0.4 (from 0.2 to 0.4 in last 6 months). The pet/ct test was negative. To be safe my urologist feels I should get radiation in the area where prostate was removed. He does caution about quality of life issues after the treatment. I am athletically active at 75. I am…

Decision time following decipher
I was Dx with high grade prostate cancer 01/05/24. I had one of twelve biopsied sections showing 2% with a 4+4, leading to a Gleason 8. I'm 53, single, 3 kids. My PSA started at 7.4 in November of 2023 and is now 10.4. My PMSA shows no spread, fully contained, as of February 2024. I just got my Decipher test back and it…

I have questions... new member
I am 53 and might be dealing with prostate cancer. heres my story. I have had my large intestine removed in 2008 from ulceritive colitis. I kept having microscopic blood in my urine and still do to this day. Also in past had a growth on my kidney that they did a cryoablation on 8 years ago and followed up with MRI for 5…

Whole Body PET CT scan vs. PSMA PET scan
I asked my urologist to write a script for a PSMA PET scan. Which he said he did. I went for the scan, but upon viewing the results it was listed as Whole Body PET CT scan using F-18 FDG radiotracer. After reading a bit, sounds like I should of had 68GA-PSMA-11 radiotracer? I'm trying to be absolutely certain of no…

My Story Consolidated
I have started several threads but thought I'd do a new one as a summation and then just keep this one to update going forward. A brief review: I'm 52 and diagnosed with prostate cancer last month. Family history is bad: father and maternal grandfather died of prostate cancer; mother and her sister died of breast cancer;…

D day is coming ..
Got to admit, starting to get nervous if I come out of this with having no detectable cancer it’ll be a miracle. I don’t think I’ve heard anybody on this board have a reoccurrence that is Gleason eight crib form and get treated nine months later like I said it’ll be a miracle, but Monday, April 1 I will be having salvage…

Second Biopsy results
Last November at 67 after an MRI my first fusion biopsy was done transrectally at local hospital. It indicated (as far as I could figure) a single tumor residing in the right side of my prostate. I had a NM bone scan in January which did not show any bony metastases. Also a Prolaris test which indicated for single modal…

49 and on active surveillance
Ok so last February I went for a physical and had low T. I was recommended to go to a urologist for TRT. While there my urologist was concerned about my 2.09 PSA. He did a DRE and felt a small spot. Subsequent MRI was inconclusive so I had a biopsy in June . The results came back with slow growing Gleason 6 and my doctor…

Brachytherapy

Early in my journey, question
So I’m 53. A year and a half ago my PSA was 1.91 and a few weeks ago it was 2.74 and my PSA percentage was 30%. My urologist has me scheduled to get another PSA next week. And if concerning he will order an MRI. in your opinion, aren’t my numbers encouraging with having 30%?? I’m still scared to death.

Robotic Prostatectomy - How Long Afterwards to Resume Activities?
I'm almost certainly going to be having the procedure soon (see my recent thread) but wanted to ask specifically about how long it generally takes to resume various activities. I work from home so I would think that would be ideal for getting back to work as quickly as possible. For those with sedentary jobs, how long was…

So I have been a member on this site since 2006 when I had my first cancer ( head and neck) and then again with my second cancer 2012 ( NHL ) . PSA After SBRT
After initial diagnosis my doctor recommended CyberKnife (SBRT). Prior to treatment my last PSA was 6.7. It is now 10 weeks after treatment and my PSA has dropped to 2.1. The radiologist had sketched out a graph of PSA gradually dropping after treatment so I didn't expect it to immediately drop down to 0.0 but wondered…

Post MRI report seems bad.
Had my first MRI after PSA jumped from 3.1 on April 2021 to 13.6 on Feb 2024 then a week later to 15.6. Was tested for possible infection but came back negative so the MRI was scheduled. The Report Impression: Highly suspicious lesion of the anterior right apex as above marked for possible fusion biopsy. The lesion…
