    Was Stage was your husband?
    Was his cancer rectal?
    Did he have radiation?
    How old is your husband?
Is your husband suffering from depression?
Is he on any medication for anything such as high blood pressure, etc.?

    Just his age
Well, many men have serious problems with erections even without colon cancer and THAT can cause depression.

At 53, why would he be concerned about his sperm?
