Ladies, it is yet again Friday afternoon and I am getting antsy to begin my weekend. In about 3 hours I'll be leaving work and heading out for two days of freedom! So, here is what I have planned:

After work, I am headed straight to a bookstore/coffeehouse to hear some friends who will be performing there with their band. Simon will meet me, and, after the performance, we'll probably go out to dinner in DC. I try to keep dinner out to one day a week, so it's always a treat. Plus, I allow myself to have a cocktail or two. Very exciting.

Saturday, I have a big day planned. After personal training at the gym, I am meeing my personal shopper (remember the closet consultation from last week?) at one of the big malls in Virginia for a few hours of targeted shopping. We will be focusing on shoes (need a pair of boots, among other things), pants (including nice jeans), accessories, and basic cardigans. I am very excited to finally begin the process of looking put-together and streamlined. She is very cute and has great clothes, so I am expecting her to lead me in the right direction.

Sunday will be grocery shopping and cooking. I want to start pickling, so I bought a pickling book from Amazon that just arrived. I might try a beginner's recipe. I have also started film editing again, so I will do another lesson from my Final Cut book. Of course, I am still behind on my New Yorker reading, so I should knock out a few of those and, of course, watch my Netflix. I am super excited about the wonderful fall weather and for this weekend.

So, if you've managed to read this far, I must ask you: what are YOU doing this weekend?!

    Your weekend are always

Your weekend are always so exciting and it is great you do this. After working all week it is nice to find a way to relax and unwind. Glad to hear you are taking up your film editing. And I hope that the consultation and shopping is fantastic. Do you like the 7 for Mankind jeans? My daughter has two pair we bought for her birthday last year. She loves the fit. They are pricy but nice. She looked for them on sale and actually got a good deal on them. Dinner out after listening to a friend's band sounds wonderful. My son-in-law plays with different bands and we try to go when we can. And daughter does musical theater so we go to those. Always fun, but haven't done any in awhile.
Last weekend we did our yardsale and took what didn't sell to Mission Solano (they use the funds to help the homeless). We are continuing sorting, packing etc. We are on to the garage. We have to move my nephew's VW to his home and go through the yard. This is going to take some time. Hubby has a friend coming by to look at his body shop tools and other stuff. Just one more step towards our moving. So my weekend won't be as fun as yours but it will be productive. I am going through computer stuff and figuring what we need to take and what can be given to our nieces. We have several computers and don't need them all and the girls are 9 and 15 and will put them to good use. I am planning on taking my hubby out to dinner Sunday so that will be our big treat.
Hope everyone has fun plans and a relaxed weekend ahead of them.

    I am hybernating!
So, last weekend I got to change my plans due to hubby's surprise trip to Connecticut. Our friend, however, ended up tearing her achelles tendon while we were in route to their home. We didn't get to do much but hang out at their house. But, the drive was beautiful with the changing leaves. We did come home early due to the sniffles getting passed around. Once we arrived home, son reported to us about a confirmed case of swine flue at his college. I have decided to stay away from as many people as possible. Pre-op is Monday and my surgery the following Tuesday. Don't want any more delays. Soooo....
Maybe I'll switch summer/winter clothes out. Get everything washed and ready to wear. That will occupy me for a while! Pammy

Hey Mimi....sounds like you have every minute of your weekend planned with exciting things. How much fun is that? I am also expecting a fun weekend. My grandson will be coming in this afternoon to spend a couple of days with us. He is in his second year of college, and today he passed his FFA final exam, on his way to being a licensed pilot. He meets with the FFA next week for oral testing, and then eligible to make application. He is so excited, as are we. Also, my second great-grandbaby (a boy, Casey Alexander) was born this past Sunday, and I am planning a trip the beginning of next week to go to see him. We are beside ourselves with joy, as he was born a few weeks early, and is healthy as can be. Hope everyone enjoys the weekend as much as I plan to...can't wait. Hugs,

    I've been so busy since
I've been so busy since college football started that I'm finally staying home this weekend to get my closet cleaned out and other things that got put off all summer. I'm looking for a nice red color to paint my front door with so if any of you know the name of a nice red (almost like the Elizabeth Arden red) please tell me so that I can go get swatches and see how it will look. My house is gray with black & white trim so I'm really thinking the red will stand out.

Then, the plan is to decorate for fall. I'm hoping it doesn't rain so that I can get my Halloween decorations up. I've bought some mums and I'm looking forward to potting them around the yard.

Hope you all have a great weekend. Hugs, Lili

    7 for Mankind
Yes, I have heard of those jeans, but have never tried on a pair. I will mention it to my consultant. It's so nice to have a "consultant" on something other than cancer, you know? Your weekend does sound productive, Stef. Have a nice time at dinner with your husband!

    Hybernation
Oh my, swine flu. Yes, it's good that you're hybernating before your surgery next week. You definitely don't want to catch anything before that. Good idea to get things ready for next week and the fall season. I also recommend getting some nice things for yourself, like new books, projects, soft pillows, DVDs, etc. Make your home a cozy place. I know you will. Good luck and let us know how things are going!

    I totally agree
Judy looks nowhere near old enough to be a great grandmama. It sounds like you have a nice weekend planned, yourself. Time with the grandkids sounds joyous. Enjoy it!

    Have a Good Weekend, Everyone
A red door will be striking with the gray and black, Lili. Chinese Red is a color I like, but I cannot remember the manufacturer, maybe Sherwin-Williams. Consumer Reports lists some good paints, but not sure if SW is still considered among the best. Let us know what color you choose, and maybe show a photo. Mimi, working with a personal shopper sounds like fun, fun, fun.I've read about the service in magazines and always thought it would be well worth the time and money.

Judy, congratulations on both your grandson and great-grandson. You and your husband must both be bursting with pride and gratitude. Your older grandson with FFA licensing, and a new healthy grandbaby, too. Now, if I were only with you to look at photos...

Steff, I forgot to write to you and tell you I listened to the recordings of Denise. She has a lovely voice, so clear and strong. Listening to her made me think of Ariel in The Little Mermaid.

Pammy, I hope you do get some relaxation this weekend; staying out of public places is a good idea. No way do we want any delay for your surgery.

Wishing everyone a safe and pleasant Fall weekend. I'll be getting ready to go back to work full-time on Monday. Until then, Joe and I plan to rest and enjoy being at home with our pups.

    Massage Yeh!
Just got back from my physical therapy appt. Got a number of exercises but she said my range of motion isn't bad. This afternoon I get my long-awaiting pedicure. Still deciding how bright I want my toes. Then tomorrow I'll work some on my earrings. I do work with crystals like rose quartz, amethyst, and others. I finally found a couple of outlets that will sell them.
Then on to Sunday and the promise of a full body massage from my daughter. She has been trained in medical and spa massage. Since I'm still not ready to lie on my stomach, she'll do what in Hawaii is called Hapai Massage (it's for pregnant women and you lie on your side. I can't wait!!!
Monday, I'm going back to work. I've been on LWOP for a week now and decided since I felt good and the doctor has released me to go to work if I want, I will. I know that I will need to take time off when chemo starts.
Everyone have a fun, productive, relaxing, stimulating or peaceful weekend whatever is your choice. Be good to yourselves. We all deserve it. Lola

Mimi, I may go shopping at
Mimi, I may go shopping at the mall also! My fashion consultant is my daughter, she said she saw this grey sweater at the Gap and I have to get it. She said it is the softest sweater she ever saw, it costs about $60 and is a cardigan, so you can check that out also. I also plan on decorating my house for Halloween, I need to pick up a few things at Target, they have great decorations. ENJOY.

Yes, but we are going to a wedding of our son's friend. I think it is more traditional but he is going to one on Halloween where they are dressing as pirates (the bride and groom) so a lot of guests are dressing up too. He is going as Dreko (I think I got that right) an animated pirate.

Women's Celebration Run Weekend Starring the Killers and Thousa
I know this is late, but it's been so much fun, I want you all to know. Friday night, after school, I picked up my two girls from high school and a friend and we headed to Boise for the Women's Celebration Show - a huge show at the Grove Convention Center that happens for two nights before the Saturday's Women's Celebration Run, touted as the largest women's run in the US. We met my college-age daughter and my friend's daughter at our hotel and then walked to the show where we picked up our run shirts and then visited all the vendors (chiropractors, makeup sales, local news channels, etc.). For what it's worth ($80?), I won a micro-dermabrasion.

After the show, we went to a little bistro for dinner next to the Grove and the Qwest Arena and chowed down. When we came out of the restaurant, rolls of drum and thrum of bass drew us to the Qwest. It was the Killers! "Oh, Mom, please." "But of course my darling daughters." So there we were at a Killers concert. "I've got soul, but..." The Qwest is not a huge venue and even cheap tickets put us in seats not that far from the stage. The only bad thing was that I had had a large glass of stout with dinner and during the concert I had to pee so bad my teeth roots tickled, but I didn't want to miss one minute of music so I waited until after the concert was finished (two encore songs). Buoyed by concert afterglow, we walked to our hotel - such a treat not to have to drive more than 2 hours home late at night.

The next morning was the 5k run/walk on one of the most beautiful mornings of the whole year. The crowds, people on the sidelines of the route- the whole spirit of the thing - is phenomenal. The girls ran; the moms walked and chatted and chatted. We work at different schools, but we both are G/T specialists, so it was great to catch up on friends, family and school.

Following festivities at the after-5K breakfast, we headed back downtown on one of the many school buses to our hotel where we showered, checked out, window shopped, and got a haircut by a stylist named Delilah - for real. Then the girls wanted to (of course) go to the mall. We were very conservative at the mall and saved our hard core shopping for Savers, a big thrift store. Oh, did we ever make out on Halloween costumes, school clothes, videos, a hand blown glass hummingbird feeder. We finally returned home, guided by a glowing orange half -moon, at almost 1:00 am. We walked in the front door, and, surprise, my husband and son had cleaned the whole house, top to bottom. Sweet dreams.

Now it's Sunday morning and I need to go unpack the car. Life is good.
