Hi friends, thank you for all your concerns from my last post. Scott came home on Sunday. He was dehydrated when he went into the hospital, but felt much better when they gave him the IV fluids. He's been eating small meals, but vomited some yesterday. He is feeling really crappy today though. I just made him a piece of toast, so hopefully it will stay down.
We had an appt with Scott's onc today. They are going to start him on CPT-11 & Avastin, and then in a couple of weeks, add Erbitux into the cocktail. Has anyone had this combination? What were the side effects? I know everyone tolerates chemo differently, but I'd like some feedback. Scott is very nervous about doing chemo again. I just wish we could wake up and say "boy, what a sucky dream!"
Well, as always, you are all in our prayers and thoughts.

Hi Linda,
I am so sorry to hear that your husband is having a trying time - but thrilled that heis feeling better with the hydration. My sister-in-law has lung cancer and is on Erbitux (after four months on another cockail). The Erbitux seems much easier for her to tolerate - albeit her nausea is increasing; I gave her my samples of Zophran today (they didn't work for me).
I realise that this is not first-hand info, but seeing her happy and doing well while on this drug is very comforting to me; just wanted to share her experience.
Best wishes for good results with Scott!
Cheers,

Hi Linda,
Sorry - I don't have any experience with that 'cocktail'. But I am thinking of you both. I'm facing starting another round of chemo myself - it is difficult. I'm trying to 'gird my loins' and get in that going into battle mode.....
Best wishes,

Hi Emily, yes that's their goal. At first, Scott did not want more chemo. But I think he's really getting scared. We know this is not for cure, and hopefully he'll tolerate it well.2bhealed said:Hi Linda,
I am curious as to why they are doing more chemo? What are they looking to accomplish? Are they trying to shrink the blockage?
peace, emily

Hi Linda:
A friend of mine's Mom is stage 4 with complete blockage of colon and mets to liver, lung and abdominal lining- so they performed a colostomy leaving the tumor in the colon and started her on what I believe are the same drugs- that was January and her last CAT shows lots of shrinkage of the tumor and best of all she feels great (other than the few days of nausea at chemo time which is fairly well controlled with Zofran)
At her initial diagnosis last November she was given 6 months max and it has now been 7 months with no signs of impending doom.
Prayers coming to you that Scott tolerates his chemo and it is successful in shrinking the blockage.
